Heroic Mother (King Kong)—This character only has a brief scene, but it's one that made a big impact on me. As King Kong rampages through the village, we see a native mother scream in terror as she sees her toddler in danger, and then run into the path of the rampaging beast to save her child. It's just a brief moment, but one that shows real heroism on the mother's part and humanizes the native villagers in an otherwise often racist movie. (Also fun fact, this heroic mom was played by Etta McDaniel, sister of Hattie McDaniel!)
