I just wanted everyone to know that last night, I figured out how to play my alltime favorite game from childhood, where my asperations of being a space cargo pilot and captain came from--EV Nova. That game has basically Pong lovel graphics but contains the best writing that anyone has ever seen. I just want to meet the writer (I assume there's only one) and shake their hand and tell them that they inspired me, sadly a century too early, to dream big.

So... in December I got bitten by the pin bug :’D I want to make some pins for EV Nova, but I don’t have the materials or equipment to make enamel pins, nor can I order a run of them because it would cost too much and I was not given permission to sell them. But! I was given the ok to make some as long as they were handmade.

So I got myself some shrinky plastic, and I’ve been experimenting :D These ones didn’t come out too well because they were my first test pieces and my markers aren’t so good at doing even color, but hopefully I’ll have a printer setup soon that should make these look much nicer!

In the meantime, though, I’ve got all this non-printer-safe shrinkydink sheets... so I decided to practice and use it up by making a bunch of my skeletons :D So expect several posts with pictures of these pins. They didn’t all come out great, some of them have smudges or other marks on them, but I’m still very proud of them and I’ve learned a lot just by playing with this. Pins may or may not become a regular feature of my blog XD

These ones are a Starbridge, from the aforementioned EV Nova, and one of Starset’s symbols, albeit a little distorted

This is... a mess XD But someone put out a challenge to draw a Cunjo, and I had to give it a go. There is no canon design for a Cunjo, only that they have piercing yellow eyes.

An in-game description:

“The Cunjo bounds towards you, teeth as long as most daggers jutting from its slathering jaws. The mere sight of it causes your blood to turn to ice, and you can smell rotten meat on its breath as it roars at you. The sound washes over you, snapping you out of your reverie. You stab forward with the spear, only to see the Cunjo smash the shaft with a bat of its paws. You leap back, luckily turning a disembowelling swipe at your stomach into a mere slashing. It causes you to suck in your breath, and your blood splatters to a nearby tree. You decide it is time for more aggressive action.“

And now for something completely different!

I recently got back into an old game that has a very special place in my heart, EV Nova.

I’ve been wanting to make fanart for it for about a decade now. So, I figured even though I’ve never successfully drawn space ships, and I’ve never done anything in this style before, why not? So here’s a Valkyrie (referenced off this image).

I’m pretty happy with the results. -w-

So the Wild Geese storyline has two paths. In one, your bestie Michaleen Houge dies and then it gives you a link to the Auroran story. In the other, Michaleen survives and you can get a link to the Pirate story.

I did the route where Michaleen survives, but did not take the Pirate link. Instead I did the default Auroran starting mission. This has had a side effect of causing the Auroran storyline to treat me as if I have done the Wild Geese link

Meaning I just really miss my bestie.
