I don’t really have the set up to do videos, but I did manage to capture a little bit of my coloring process for this fjord unicorn. In the video you can see me using Henna to lay out some of the slightly darker sections of the coat - you can also see where I had already laid in what would be the darkest sections in Indigo Blue.
After the Henna I layered over Yellow Ochre in both the darkened areas and the untouched areas in order to establish the base color. By this point I had already I tested out the colors in my sketchbook, so I knew they would blend to get the colors/values I wanted - and, of course, I had several reference pictures helping me to know where to lay in those dark areas.
Once I’ve got the light/dark areas established and basic color areas blocked out lightly, I can just keep layering more and more to get it to the final color/value intensity. It's a lot of tinkering and intuiting to get it to the final look!

Happy New Year.
It's been forever since I last posted on here. I created this back in July.
I absolutely love the character designs in Veilguard and all the different outfits & armour the companions can wear. I've always enjoyed tiny little details in gam3s. Bellara's outfits are fun & pretty, but as soon as I saw her Hero of the Veilguard/Reborn Leathers outfit (when I played the game for the 1st time), I knew I had to draw it. I also like how the Veil Jumpers have a triangle theme throughout their attire and decor.
It was a challenge to draw due to all the details but I am happy with how this artwork came out. I drew this with sepia Sakura Pigma Micron pens, and then coloured it in with a blend of Ohuhu Markers & Zena coloured pencils. White accents were done with a gel pen & the metallic gold is acrylics (which is shiny in real life, but scanners kill colours). I had a hard time trying to draw her forehead tattoo so I gave up and cheated by using Photoshop to create it. 😅 The background is inspired by the wonderful artwork by Matt Rhodes & Ramil Sunga (who also did the artwork in Inquisition).
Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I also did artwork of Solas & Mythal last year, too.
star wars rebels appreciation week: day 5 — favorite antagonist // inktober day 7 — "passport" (i couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make maul work with the prompt 😭)
The brainrot is real with those two... Halp.
I got my crayons out. Good Sunday is good ^^
[Edit: I uploaded a better version, because now I do have a scanner]
