Day 201 of 365; Today I finally finished my backlog list and I'm out of new kits. Probably I'll get a bootleg HG so I'll have something to do next week. But hey, I just completed the three Eva Units! And I didn't mess them up! No glues or broken stuff. Although the sad part about this is I really can't take certain parts off for painting because the pegs inside are really susceptible to breakage. But at least the only parts that I need to paint were the head and some details here and there and I'm good to go. I'll probably apply panel lines next week and let them sit for a while until I can get myself a new set of fine and soft brushes. Day 142 of 365; I was fiddling with the Eva Unit 01 and I realized how much I love it. The anime, its rebuild versions, and all of those berserk moments. Too bad this one is messed up. There's no telling how will I turn her into a master piece since her left arm's articulation is severely limited and now something cracked inside her waist section (probably the part I forgot to sand and now the left leg to waist joint is now loose. Perhaps this particular kit is a lesson that not all plamo kits are the same and when I build the replacement eva unit, I'll be more careful. I even paused building my backlog since all that I have left were the two Barbatos units ( Lupus and Lupus Rex) and the Eva Unit 02. I'll probably back into building by next week. Messed up the left elbow joint. I almost cried while panicking abd ended up making things worse. Now, i was able to "fix" it by putting everything together but it's now fixed and it cannot do elbow bends now. I got used to the harder ABS type of plastic Bandai uses that I got too careless with this one. I'll probably do something else with this but I'll still finish the kit. I will surely buy a replacement kit but that won't be until july. I just hope Anastasia888 will have supply until then. Perhaps I should stop building kits when I'm agitated. I tend to break things. Day 139 of 365; I was supposed to go to the bank but thought better of it because of the temperature and UV warnings. Now it's all dark and cloudy and I do hope it will rain for the rest of the day. And since I already finished building my MG backlogs, I decided to bust open the Non-scale Evangelion Unit 01 Test Type by Kotobukiya. I'm still disappointed as to how that online model kits page is handling my issue with the delay of the Evangelion Unit 00 Prototype TV ver. and still pissed as how come a kit ordered 2 months ago is still in transit. So, back with the Unit 01. There's so much runners in this small box that is almost comparable to a Bandai HG kit. Although the runners were small and all. The parts were also small but amazingly detailed. The quality of the PS and ABS plastics were also good, I could even say superior to a regular bandai kit; not too stiff or brittle, and not too soft as well. The feel of the plastic is also great. And the mold is superb. I haven't seen any flash or defect. Gotta give it to Kotobukiya folks. Perhaps the only issue I could point out is the color of the purple plastic. It's not as dark as the anime had portrayed it. Or perhaps with some lighting, i could achieve that shade. I don't have the resources, the skill, and perhaps the guys to repaint the kit so the only thing I could do on this one is just apply some of the missing color apps that are not too hard to paint, and perhaps panel lines and that's it. Overall, I'm excited to build this monster since it's my first Kotobukiya kit and based on the reviews I've seen, this won't be dull. Day 90 of 365; It's Black Saturday and I decided to clean my space and noticed that I haven't been able to build my new kits. Or perhaps I haven't found the heart to do it. And for the first quarter of the year, these were my, and continuously piling, backlog. The two Kotobukiya Eva 01 and Eva 02( my Koto Eva 00 is still not delivered) Gramps RX-78-2 ver. 3.0, the Char Zaku 2.0, The Tallgeese which I just got this morning, and the two lupuses Gundam Barbatos Lupus and Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex. Not to mention the option set 8 that came as a freebie when I got the Lupus. Mom said just keep at it because soon, they will have my room painted and perhaps install some hanging shelves where I can put my babies in display. I'm just thankful my parents are supportive of my hobby and they realize that this hobby lets me keep going everyday. But since I've got seven kits in the backlog, not to mention a kit on its way to me at the end of April, I should pause for a while in buying these kits. Partly because I'm in between jobs again, and partly because I need to need to pace these things because I'm starting to become an impulse buyer. Oh well.
