Collection: Women’s Series Title: Head Study 45 Artist: Veronica Huacuja Medium: Oil and acrylic on paper Size: 13.7 (W) x 15.7 (H) x 0.1 in Year: 2018 “Head Study 45” results after reading about Eva Perón’s afterlife, the First Lady of Argentina (1946-1952). As we all know, when she died, the Spanish pathologist, Dr. Pedro Ara, embalmed her body. Since then, she resembles the character of the children’s story, “Sleeping Beauty”, immersed in a profound dream in a forever youthful body. Her embalmed corpse has a lengthy story. In one of its to and fro transcontinental trips from America to Europe, her coffin fell down and her nose broke. This detail inspired me to create the artwork of an unknown female with a broken nose.
