I know you never wanted anyone to be forced onto the ship, that you wanted every member of your crew of the Hail Mary to have made the choice to board and sacrifice themself willingly.

I'm sorry I went against that wish. Even if you never knew then, I'm certain you do now. I only hope you can at least understand why I acted the way I did, even if you disagree with my methods.

it feels… rude, not replying to other's asks here, but at the same time, it would be rude if I did, too.

So many familiar names, so many people who are important to me now. So many people who I fear will never want to hear from me.

Simon is more patient with me than I deserve. Ryland forgave me and we have returned to the amicable relationship we had once before. Rocky is sometimes sharp with me but I know they care very deeply about their humans, and they can't help that their care for Ryland has a much stronger basis than their care for me and thus their care for Ryland can grate harshly against their care for me when Ryland has a particularly bad day. Adrian is actually grateful in small measure to me for sending Ryland to Tau Ceti, as it brought their mates home to them.

But no one is here to hear me, even if it feels so incredibly impolite for me not to greet those bearing the names and similar histories of my friends.

Please do not feel guilty for not wanting to talk to me, especially not you, Doctor Grace. I understand where that lack of desire comes from.
