The summer Hikaru died is like. Ok there's the horrors and being gay in your small town is definitely the biggest part of the horror. What if your dad was in love with your crush's dad but the crush's dad died and your dad married your mom like everyone expected and even yet he's still weird and distant and DEPRESSED and the history is repeating himself and you can't let that happen to you. You'll let the eldritch horror monster consume you before you give him up.
And what if you're a wish granting god and this kid wishes that nobody gets sad from his death so now you've taken over him and you are witnessing everything for the first time and you're not alone in that mountain anymore and there's this kid that you (or the previous you) really like and you want him to be well. But you KNOW he only likes you because he liked the previous you. And you tell him "try me, make any wish, any wish" and he just says "no thanks" and you burn with it. But in the end you want him to be well. So what if you just left. By now you love this fragile life and its creatures so what if you just left to protect it all.
