Upeksha is Sanskrit word. It is a seminal term in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. English words that give us a sense of what this term signifies are: equanimity, non-attachment, non-discrimination, even-mindedness or letting go. In the Yoga Sutras it is mentioned as the state of being ‘close to the Seer with great patience’.

Affirmation Today I forgive all those who have ever offended me. I give my love to all thirsty hearts, both those who love me and to those who do not love me. Even-Mindedness In All Circumstances Do not be concerned how people treat you; be concerned only with how you behave. This ideal was taught by Jesus, by Paramahansa Yogananda, and by all the great ones. There is a right way to react in every situation in life, toward those who love us and those who love us not; and this was what Lord Krishna meant when he praised even-mindedness as an essential virtue. "O Arjuna! he who is calm and even-minded during pain and pleasure, he whom these cannot ruffle, he alone is fit to attain Everlastingness!" He didn't say: "Be even-minded when people are kind and loving toward you." That is easy to do. He taught that we must be even-minded under all circumstances. When you practice this, you see it brings positive results. -Sri Daya Mata, Only Love, p 61; Affirmation, Metaphysical Meditations, Paramahansa Yogananda, p 80.
