Curry on a Friday night
It's an odd one, but it's just one of those routines that makes me feel whole. I am very rarely home on a Friday night, and usually my partner and I are travelling back and forth... so actually staying in on a Friday night is divine. I think I've managed five of these nights this year...
So getting to stay in watch a move and have a curry under a blanket... maybe even a couple beers... it's lovely.
Er, so, I binge-read a vampire manga recently, and now I’m on a vampire kick again. I don’t share my vampire artworks on facebook because, well, reasons, but I figured I’d share it here. Let me know what you think. Just a casual vampire evening in, I guess.
With Valentine’s Day coming up next week on the 14th February, I thought I would share some ideas with you for an inexpensive night in with your other half.If you want to avoid the crowds in busy restaurants and don’t fancy filling your home with heart-shaped mugs and pink teddy bears, this could be the solution to both your Valentine’s gifts and evening celebration. Read on to find out more and to enter my Valentine’s giveaway to win a fabulous prize bundle from Dartington Crystal and Bolsius candles. I’m talking about an at-home wine tasting. Or beer tasting. Or simply a mocktail evening, if that’s what you fancy. Pop on some music, light some candles and start sipping! The candles create a relaxed atmosphere and will transform your living room or kitchen into a cosy, intimate space for conversation to flow. Spending time together is the nicest thing about Valentine’s Day, so take this opportunity to have a good old catch-up without the distraction of the TV or internet. Of course, this type of evening in would be lovely whatever the occasion, whether it’s a birthday, your wedding anniversary or just a Friday night. Drinks-wise, you could treat yourselves to a bottle of wine, or go for the mini-bottles (like my tiny Prosecco bottle – just the right amount for two!) if you want to cut costs. This will also help to minimise wastage if you can’t drink a whole bottle on a school night..!
Or open up the drinks cabinet and use whatever you’ve got leftover from Christmas to create some mystery cocktails. Even cracking open a bottle of your favourite beer is a special occasion when you serve it in a huge brandy glass like I did here! The glasses themselves can actually be your Valentine’s gift to each other. I chose to get pairs of crystal glasses rather than sets, so that hubby and I would have one glass each, perfect for just the two of us. I picked out some red and white wine glasses (my favourite), smaller port glasses which are perfect for dessert wines or liqueurs too, a pair of celebratory prosecco glasses and some swish martini glasses for cocktails. I already mentioned my brandy glasses – I love serving beer (and even soft drinks) in these glasses, it looks so smart. I think that a matching set of beautifully crafted glasses make a lovely gift for Valentine’s Day and you can grow your collection over the years. They’re also a fab gift idea if you’re going to a wedding or anniversary party. The good news is that you can win all these pairs of crystal drinkware (brand new and boxed, delivered directly from Dartington, of course!) in my giveaway so read on to enter the competition. To help you create a romantic feeling in your home I’ve also added some candles to this prize bundle! You can win a selection of 10 red and white pillar candles from Bolsius to set the scene for your cosy night in.How do you enter my giveaway to win this bundle of glassware and candles (worth over £120+)?
