The doors to the Super Contest Hall open, revealing a spacious lobby designed to resemble a winter wonderland, with silvery drapes patterned with snowflakes and garlands of white peonies and pinecones hanging along the walls. To the left is a cluster of frosted pine trees, beautifully adorned with white lights, silver tinsel, and ornaments shaped like snowflakes and stars. Three front desks are decorated with dangling silver paper stars. The clerks at each desk verify the arrivals against the guest list, offer coat checks, and accept any last-minute donations.
Several members of the Sinnoh League are mingling with the crowd in the lobby, including Hearthome's local celebrity, Fantina. The gym leader is dressed in an opulent eggplant-colored ball gown and matching sky-high heels, which enhance her sophisticated appearance as she greets both new and familiar faces entering the venue. Once guests have had the chance to exchange pleasantries and meet up with any companions, a clerk directs them through a set of heavy oak doors flanked by glittering twin Winter Sawsbuck statues that lead into the venue.
The doors open to reveal Sinnoh's only Super Contest Hall, now transformed into a ballroom for the evening. The floor has been leveled and converted into an expansive wooden dance floor that extends through the space. Around the floor, a variety of round and rectangular tables of different sizes are set up for guests to rest between dances or mingle while they enjoy the refreshments. Diamond-cut crystal centerpieces sit atop silvery snowflake-print tablecloths, each holding arrangements of fresh camellias, white poinsettias, and white roses; the water in each of the vases is dotted with silver stars. A few selected tables feature a single red poinsettia hidden among other flowers. Do these standout flowers have any special significance? Only time will tell.
At the back of the room, a podium stands above the dance floor, featuring a live orchestra decked out in shimmering silver outfits. The ensemble is currently playing soft holiday music but will transition to lively instrumental renditions of popular dance songs throughout the night. The conductor has made it clear that they are open to taking requests at any time.
The right wall of the room is lined with several buffet-style tables, all loaded with hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Among the savory plates are phyllo pastries, crispy meat and vegetable gyoza, vibrant bruschetta and crostini, assorted meat and veggie kabobs, a variety of pinwheel sandwiches, stuffed mushrooms, kabobs, crescent rolls, steaming crockpots of various soups, and an enormous platter of bite-sized karaage that can be eaten without making a mess. Both chopsticks and traditional Western utensils are provided for all guests.
Similarly, the dessert table offers a mixture of Sinnohan and Western desserts, such as fresh mochi of all traditional flavors, assorted cupcakes dressed in silvery foil and topped with white icing, an enormous yule log, mini cheesecakes, green tea cookies, cordial cherries, peppermint meringues, the classic holiday strawberry shortcake, and red bean cake. For the pokémon, there are many large platters of fresh berries and other snacks, such as Pewter Crunchies.
A bar is tucked in the back corner, where guests can request drinks of their choice, including any alcoholic beverages if they are of age and choose to purchase them. A posted sign states that all non-alcoholic drinks are unlimited and the first round of alcoholic drinks is on the house. Some of the featured drinks are hot cider, warm sake, hot mulled wine, egg nog, and even chanmery sparkling juice for the younger attendees.
For those who might need some quiet time, a pair of double doors near the left side of the dance floor leads to a cozy lounge with a roaring fireplace, a few board games, pokémon beds, fleece blankets, and plenty of comfortable seating space. Guests are welcome to come and go from the area as they please.
When the time finally comes, the event host takes center stage.

Glamorama is a new bar in Fitzroy that has been opened for over 6 months now and their interior is so retro-ly designed and has an extensive drinkies list. Inside Glamorama, you can find a dining option called Spare Me Kitchen serving modern Australian dishes.
I was invited to attend the launch by Zilla & Brook PR and Glamorama and all opinions expressed are my own.
When we arrived, we were in awe with the interior design of Glamorama. It’s very hip and you do get the bar vibe but that’s what it is.
There’s a DJ at plays all night and when the bar opens so you can put your dancing shoes on.
We all sat down and the food started to come out. First up, the Hiramasa kingfish. This was quite fresh with a hint zing-ness. Very refreshing.

Next up, the Madras spiced trawler prawns. These were quite spicy and did give me a little punch. They were a touch on the salty side but Mr Kingdom Hearts LOVED them!

I’m a huge fan of duck liver parfait and when this plate was placed in front of me, my heart skipped a beat (brings me back to Paris, qui qui!). The duck liver parfait was full of flavour but it wasn’t as smooth as it could have been smoother.

Our meal came with a concoction of spirits which included cognac and absinthe. Now, since I was driving, I wasn’t able to drink it and when I did have a sip, boy, was it super duper strong. Mr Kingdom hearts drank it with a scrunched up face nonetheless.
I opted for the seared blue eye for my main because I wanted something light and seafood is always light. The fish itself was a touch on the dry side but the clams and white wine was divine!! Although, I wished they were a bit more generous with white wine.
Seared Blue Eye, Clams, White Wine, Parsley
Mr Kingdom Hearts got the Gippsland Beef Fillet and this too did not lack any flavour whatsoever. Mr Kingdom Hearts noticed that the inside of the fillet was a tad on the cold side which was disappointing.

From across the table we eyed a cocktail and just had to try it. It was called lady marmalade and it was a bittersweet drinkie and not for everyone. It had vodka, lime and campari dust. Mr Kingdom Hearts didn’t really enjoy this one, he was a more citrusy kinda guy.

Before dessert came out, our waitress told us that we would be having two desserts. Unfortunately, she had it wrong and we only got the one and it was the broken lemon cheesecake. It had goat’s curd, lemon gel, vanilla soil and shaved grana. I loved everything except for the goat’s curd since I wasn’t a goat fan. Mr Kingdom LOVED it! It was tangy and sweet at the same time.

Glamorama is an awesome bar with an exotic and extensive drinkies with a lovely ambiance. Spare me kitchen were spot on with the flavours but there were a few things like the fish being a touch dry and the parfait not being as smooth. There was also a mix up with the drinkies where the waitress had failed to inform me a few things and was told it was because the waitress wasn’t really good at English (which I found wasn’t a good enough excuse because being in hospitality, communication is a big factor).
