Well, this is how I imagine it because that would have been my reaction.

Jake: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I'm run through this whole ass mine, trying to save you while the freaking FBI is trying to arrest me and you come with self-pity?

A theory about Adam, Sophia, Billy Blake and the cassette tape which actually makes sense!

"There was that cassette thing, back when we could still listen to it. And that’s probably where we heard Adam and Sophia. And supposedly Billy disappeared around the same time as Sophia. Adam hadn’t disappeared yet, but what if they did something to Billy? I’m not saying they did something to him on purpose. Something that made them think Billy was dead. The first video call when Adam called us, he said, “I know this is totally impossible, but I saw him.” I think he was talking about Billy. And then there’s the fact that Adam and Sophia disappeared at the same time. They were both scared. And I agree with you that the stranger is Billy. He was there in the woods too. And he said we don’t know what Adam did. At least that’s how I remember him saying it."

I read this on reddit, Gosh, this theory totally makes sense. I have been wondering about the timelines when Billy ran to the woods. & Sophia disappearing. and now Billy must be threatening them and that's why they are scared now. He is back for revenge, probably. it makes sense why Sophia was back in redlog after all these years. Moonvale's theme mentions that someone has set a trap for MC, that's what it must be about. Billy isn't alone and the group traps people for something, and this time they are using Sophia and Adam to trap MC, which seems planned and calculated. I belive the unknown isn't Billy Blake. And Sophia must have called that number from cafe to ask for help to unknown.

I wanna talk a bit more about this card. There are probably many theories, good theories, that already exists somewhere out there. So this might actually be a boring or even dumb theory. No actual spoilers, just theory

So my current theory is that this whole thing is a cult thing. A bit like a game of werewolf? Anyone could participate, and in this case the game needed a "stranger" which is us.

I don't wanna overanalyze the picture too much but it's clearly some sort of deer creature. The closest one would be wendigo. Wendigo has a pretty clear symbolism, which is how far the need to survive could change a person. I'm guessing at some point of the game we would be force to make some pretty harsh decisions either to survive or to save someone. We might even be forced to make sacrifices or even sacrifice the others.

Human turns into a monster (wendigo) because greed and selfishness can consume us from within. Here, we are a stranger. The wendigo symbolizes the breaking of social bonds. We may be the protagonist of our story, but we might be the antagonist of Eric's friendship group. If that makes sense? Keep in mind antagonist doesn't mean bad person, just someone that keeps you from your goal.

I had a crazy thought

So, I had a crazy thought when Thomas came to apologize for not being relevant on Hannah's disappearance investigation. It was ok for me until he started to ask if we could imagine where Jake was hiding from the police.

At that moment, a thought crossed my head: what if he was asking this to have a guess on Jake's whereabouts just to inform the FBI? Would Thomas be an FBI agent, or at least an informant? Could he be manipulating us, pretending to be just interested on Jake's well-being? Who told the FBI that Jake was in Ironsplinter Mine? At that moment, everyone from our group was aware of Jake's presence in Duskwood, right?

And then Thomas talked about going on the search for him with the others. Well, that made me reconsider the suspicion I had. Maybe I was just paranoid?

What do you guys think?

*Edit: I also forgot to mention that, in Thomas' chat with Lilly, she points out that Hannah said he didn't go to see her the day before. He just said he was busy. Well, he may just be a bit introspective in this moment, or he could be busy with some serious investigation on Jake's whereabouts...
