๐ย outside of evermore's banquet room - winter masquerade
The moon was well into the sky by now as singles, couples and boisterous friend groups trickled out of the ornamented banquet hall. Zarina sat on the edge of a large fountain by the sidewalk, the bottom of her dark red dress curled around her boots. The brunette was in good spirits tonight as the masquerade was a pickpocket's dream. An elegant event made to hide identities? It practically served her jewelry and trinkets on a silver platter. Zarina had loaded her trusty little bucket bag with bracelets, watches, rings, spare cash and even the occasional pair of cufflinks. Anything that looked expensive that she was confident she could slip away with. She wasn't proud of stealing, but she was good at it. If she sold everything carefully and in moderation, she'd definitely be set with bills and groceries for a while with tonight's haul.
Mask now off, Zarina had taken her glass of bourbon outside (to the bartender's reluctance) to enjoy the stars, the ambience of failing blind dates and to detox from the buzz inside. Deciding it was probably time to call it a night, the fairy stood from her seat on the fountain. Turning swiftly, she collided with someone hard enough to drop her bag and her drink. The bourbon drenched the figure's shoes while Zarina's bag landed with a jingle and a suspiciously heavy thud. "Ugh, I'm sorry about your shoes but you need to watch where you're stepping," she half-apologized. Her hands moved quickly and protectively, wanting to grab her bag before they did. Simultaneously, she used the unwarranted commotion to scan the person in front of her; wondering if there was one last score she could steal for the night... or if she had already stolen from them.
