December Pt2 - Monthly Drawing Challenge

So the end of this year kicked my butt pretty hard which means I’m calling the monthly challenge part of this done for now. I’m going to add Pepper back in and finish this piece up fully next year. Again, thank you @ruth-westside for all your help! <3

an art collaboration i did with @sleepyspoonie​!

she did the lineart and i did the colors and i’m very happy with how it turned out

fun story about the cyan color: 

about a month ago i bought two half pans of cyan and magenta paint from paul rubens, which is the brand of paint i use. i got a shipping notification about a week later, and a week after that my order got cancelled and i got a message from a customer service rep saying saying the shade of magenta i wanted didn’t exist and i needed to pick a different one

the color i wanted was listed in the booklet that came with my palette and i showed a picture of it to the person but they still said it didn’t exist. so i did some snooping and found that it Was a color, but it was only available in tubes and not pans.

so after a lot of back and forth i finally got my order finalized, and the representative said the order wouldn’t ship until after chinese new year, i said that was okay and wished them a happy new year

and then the whole corona virus thing happened, shay and i thought it would be fun to do an art collab and she drew this tarot card of her d&d character and her twin sister that i knew needed that extremely specific shade of cyan bc of aracelli’s spellplague backstory and that being the color associated with the spellplague

so after a couple days of deliberating if i’d wait for my aliexpress order or just get something else in the meantime and the chinese new year break being extended indefinitely, i decided i’d just get a replacement bc i don’t want to wait a month or more to start painting

so i looked for a comparable shade at every craft store in the area, and no one had a decent quality watercolor in the right shade

but jerry’s artarama, which is about 40 minutes away, had the winsor & newton cobalt teal light on their website so there was a chance they’d have it in-store so i went to go see

and they had exactly One tube left

so that’s why there is a lot more cyan in this picture than originally intended

because of spite
