Everton fans have taken to Twitter to destroy Jordan Pickford for his display in Sunday afternoon’s meeting with Manchester United. The England international – who was performing under the watchful eye of Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate – made a mistake in allowing Bruno Fernandes’ effort to fly past him when in truth, the ball was close enough to him for it to be saved. That particular error came just seconds after Pickford had passed the ball short, when it would’ve been safer to go long with Manchester United players in close proximity when he initially distributed the ball. It was the second game in a row at Goodison Park in which the former Sunderland glovesman made a mistake. Last time out on Merseyside for Everton, Pickford let Christian Benteke’s shot skid under his body when it looked easier to save it. Following his mistake, Sky Sports portrayed a graphic on live TV showing the fact that the 25-year-old has made seven errors leading to goals since the start of last season – the joint-most of any other keeper alongside David de Gea. Let’s see what the Everton fans on Twitter have said about their No.1… You just cannot defend Pickfords performance this season. Shocking. — The Gwladys Street (@TheGwladysSt) March 1, 2020 Makes games harder for us, aslways giving the ball away and sticking his tongue out like a child. Get him gone. — Dean (@Dean20264474) March 1, 2020 To kick off the reaction, The Gwladys Street said that Pickford’s performances this season cannot be defended – he was also guilty of looking far from solid when Newcastle scored two late goals to grab a point at Goodison Park earlier this term, with the glovesman spotted behind the line for one of Florian Lejeune’s two strikes. He has the talent, but no focus what so ever. — Emperor Carlo (@polarisms) March 1, 2020 Hate to say it but Roy Keane is spot on about Pickford. Absolutely not good enough for Everton or England. A couple of howlers per game is customary from him these days. Needs replacing in the summer. — James Wharton (@JWharton_EFC) March 1, 2020 Emperor Carlo then mentioned that Pickford has the talent, but has no focus whatsoever – the player himself admitted that personal allegiances affected his mistake-ridden display against Newcastle last season, given his ties with the Magpies’ rivals Sunderland. James Wharton then referred to Roy Keane’s half-time comments on the Englishman, in which the former Manchester United hardman said he doesn’t care about stats and that he knows Pickford isn’t a good goalkeeper – ouch. Pickford should be dropped next week — Iain young (@EfcIainyoung) March 1, 2020 It’s getting too hard to stand up for Pickford recently — EFCNeil (@EFCNeil98) March 1, 2020 Lastly, Iain Young said that Pickford should be dropped next week. PREMIER LEAGUE INFLATION: YOU WON’T BELIEVE HOW MUCH THESE FAMOUS TRANSFERS WOULD COST TODAY… Ancelotti could select academy graduate Joao Virginia as a backup if he did want to drop his No.1, with the young Portuguese stopper on the bench against Manchester United. In other news, these Everton fans weren’t happy with this pre-match decision from Ancelotti… #EvertonFans #RedDevils #ManchesterUnited
Theo Walcott has only managed nine goals in 72 appearances for Everton since joining the Merseyside giants from Arsenal in January 2018. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old has registered just two assists and zero goals in 18 outings for the Toffees during the 2019/20 campaign. Walcott was named in the starting XI against Liverpool on Sunday but left the field in the 79th minute having failed to make a serious contribution in the FA Cup clash. Watch Everton Videos With StreamFootball.tv Below Indeed, according to WhoScored, the attacker only completed 50% of his passes, while he did not have a single shot or complete a single dribble as Carlo Ancelotti’s side exited the competition courtesy of a 1-0 defeat. And a number of Everton fans have slammed his performance. Walcott was atrocious today… I am done with him — Ai EFC (@chelseverton) January 5, 2020 Take Walcott off and put on a traffic cone in his place #efc — David Bailey ™️ (@DavidBailey132) January 5, 2020 Why is Walcott still on the pitch — Adam Mc (@adam_efc90) January 5, 2020 Walcott was awful. Didn’t like him before we signed him. I’ll defend any Everton player, but I can’t defend that! — Proud Evertonian (@ProudEvertonian) January 5, 2020 Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think… Meanwhile, others have called for their club to sell the Englishman during the January transfer window as they do not want to see him wear the shirt again. You’d think after that Twitter this evening would be full of blues falling out. Not at all. All united in never wanting to see Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin and Walcott ever play for us ever again. Lovely to see. #EFC — Adrian Egley (@adyady14) January 5, 2020 I beg Moshiri gives him £500m to spend this month. Get rid of Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Walcott and all the others — Adam (@adxmEFC) January 5, 2020 Players that 100% are useless and need shifting and have done for some time. Schneiderlin Walcott Michael Kean. Gylfie These 4 are the 4 you just cant work with at all, simply not good enough…. loan them out if needs be. — Blackwatch78 (@blackwatch78efc) January 5, 2020 Sigurddson, Schneiderlin, Walcott- enough chances, enough of going missing in big games. Exit door awaits. 🖐🖐#EFC #LIVEVE — Ben Williams (@BenWill1973) January 5, 2020 I don’t want to see Walcott in an Everton shirt ever again #EFC — Dave R (@dave_rich8) January 5, 2020 Walcott will see his current deal at Goodison Park expire at the end of next season, and it remains to be seen whether he is wanted as part of Ancelotti’s plans moving forward. Meanwhile, Everton are reportedly not in the market for this France international despite rumours linking him with a potential switch to Merseyside. #EvertonFans #FaCup #TheoWalcott
