Buy used, or lease new?
So, I've been looking into whether it's better to buy a used vehicle or lease a new vehicle, as a business person. And I'm so confused! If I lease a vehicle, I have heard that I can write off 100% of the lease payments, assuming that the truck is used solely for business - which it would be. But I guess I can't write off 100% of car payments if I buy the car? I guess I need to call a financial adviser. Opinions?
What kind of truck should I get?
Well, my old work van is just that...old. Time to get a new vehicle. I'm thinking that I'd prefer to get a pickup truck, rather than another van - it's versatile, and then I can add a trailer later, so when I do have jobs that I have a lot of stuff to carry around, I can just hitch a trailer to the truck. I've been looking at quad cab or extended cab 4X4's, because my wife and I would like to have another vehicle that has somewhat of a back seat so we can taxi her 14 year old daughter around.
I'd probably rather get a late-model used truck than a brand new one, because I just can't justify purchasing immediate depreciation! Also, I prefer American-made vehicles.
Anyone have any suggestions, or hear of any good deals on a late model truck? Oh...one caveat...it has to be white, so I can get door magnets with my company information. My wife says that would only work with a white truck, so that the company "stays on brand" - which means, I guess, that everything looks the same, and is distinctively stamped with the EveryMan logo.
