those words catch her off guard. how few times she’s heard them in earnest. spoken so tenderly, without condition nor expectation. it stalls the beating of her heart, and the moment it resumes she’s on her feet, advancing upon eddara in a few quick strides to pull her into a tight embrace. “ i will keep you safe, from now until my final breath, i promise you,” she was never particularly good at conveying sentiment through words alone, but they lingered in her actions. spoke loudest in the kiss she leaves a top her head, the manner in which she keeps the smaller woman close, shielding her from the bitter cold and listening to the gentle sound of her breathing, the uneasy drumming of her heart.. this was lira’s way of saying she felt the same.

with the future so uncertain, for those who had united against a common enemy, tensions were running high in equal measure. it was only natural. what they faced was death incarnate. even with dragons, and wolves, and soldier’s a plenty, all willing to sacrifice, there was no knowing what the next few hours would bring. no way of knowing if there would be anything left to fight for, once the dust settled. but there was one thing free of doubt in her mind, and that was her loyalty. if this was to be her final hours, there was no one she would rather have alongside her. if the gods had deemed this the time to call her home, she would be glad to join her fallen comrades defending one so beloved. @pridefulroots
