What do you do if you find out a friend is into kinks you find gross or weird?
First I examine why I find it gross and weird and decide if I’m making a snap judgment based on societal biases that have no place in discussions of sexual preference. And then I tell my friend “hey that’s not for me but thank you for telling me :)”
Or I get gross and weird with them. Many such cases

I’ve got a whole bunch of fandoms I’m into that I want to try fanart for, namely TMA, Malevolent, Sonar from dispatch specifically, and maybe Sky cotl. I’ve been meaning to give drawing my customized avatar I have there a try, he’s just so small and charming.
Hopefully I can start rolling out some digital art later this year once I get a device with better processing power. I could do the classic finger and phone but that is agonizing and I don’t want to.
Does anyone have tips for getting decent photos of a traditional piece? I’ve gotten some alright photos in the past but it’s hard to get the lighting right so it looks nice.

I just saw something pop up on my dashboard that was alarming. It stated that due to mathematics being objective that there is no prejudices in the mathematics subject or community. I’m a mathematician. I’ll be the first to tell you that mathematics isn’t entirely objective (nothing really is), as it will always have biases due to human involvement, like every other subject.
For instance, mathematics is built on these things called axioms. Axioms are things that humans just assume are true to be able to build the rest of mathematics from. We don’t actually prove the axioms. So, in a sense, the choice of axioms can make mathematics subjective. There are numerous other examples.
Anyway, some of these biases can create forms of prejudice in the mathematics community, such as sexism and racism. Lots of the ways we teach mathematics are for the cis white male view. This group of people is also the most likely to have access to things that would push them further along in the subject. As a woman in mathematics, I have been discouraged in numerous ways against pursuing my dream of obtaining a PhD in Mathematics and becoming an algebraic number theorist. It’s incredibly important that we find better ways of teaching that are accessible to anyone who wants to learn and that we promote all those to-be mathematicians into obtaining their dreams by giving them access to what they need to succeed.
I will always stand by building other mathematicians up instead of tearing them down. We already have a toxic environment of being competitive instead of collaborating in this field and ignoring coming biases is only going to exasperate our current situation.
Also, the post made it seem as though mathematics is only a tool to solve other problems when it is, in fact, an art and a subject in itself. You can use mathematics to help you in other fields and disciplines (and that is good!) but they need to realize that mathematics is a subject in itself that goes way past elementary calculus.
A giant budget and a half baked Wes Anderson concept doesn't make AY genius. Anyway, it was nominated for several things. And Harry looks like an entitled, pissy bitch snubbing award shows for not nominating him. He did that with the BRITs for HS1 too. What an ego. Quit being a brainless fan. Piles of money does not equal creativity. If creativity were rewarded, OK go would win everything.

I’d also like it to be noted that I didn’t say that Adore You was genius, just that it was in line with interesting music video making which I’d assume is part of what the VMAs are about.
Per the rest of today’s news, it looks like Harry made the call not to attend the VMAs before the nominations were out (which makes sense).
I can’t speak to HS1 and the Brits but I am here for an artist taking time off and not attending every award show under the sun. I’d actually think it is pretty common not to attend when you’re not nominated. But I don’t have the actual data on that one.
Here’s what’s true for me in regards to award shows IN GENERAL: there are WAY too many white dudes represented. That includes 4/5 members of One Direction.
However, I do not believe that Justin Bieber is making superior music or videos to Harry and he’s nominated in more than one category at the VMAs. I don’t believe Ed Sheeran is superior either. I realize that music is all kinds of subjective and that’s my opinion. You’re entitled to your own.
I’ll be over here pulling for Megan Thee Stallion to take all the awards at the VMAs and any other show this year.
