A CHEEKY LITTLE QUESTION TAG
I was browsing my "likes" today and realised I'd forgotten to answer Ally's (agirlnamedally) & Nadia's (everything-wasilluminated) questions! I've combined them in this lil post! Feel free to answer them also & tag me so I can read all about you & the cool things you collect/read/watch/think about.
1. Do you collect anything?
I started collecting the 3 of hearts once, and then I realised it was pretty much the cruelest thing to collect so I stopped. I also collected every “Two of a Kind” MK&A book, but I recently gave them to a young girl cause she needed them more.
2. What are your current top 3 fav songs?
Lay Me Down - Sam Smith Henrietta - The Fratellis Settle Down - The 1975
3. What is the last movie you saw at the cinema?
THE BOOK THIEF. I WAS NOT OKAY.
4. If you could give yourself one piece of advice at whatever age you were 5 years ago, what would it be?
5 years ago I was 15. I would tell myself to read. Reading would have helped you become self-aware and empathetic a lot earlier than it actually took you.
5. What did you do on your last birthday?
I had a cute dinner with the girls, and then celebratory drinks with a friend who just finished her VCEs. It was fab!
6. What is the last thing you ate?
A caramello koala :O
7. Where do you most want to travel?
It used to be NYC, and I still really really want to go of course. But right now I just really want to visit Japan!! The more I read about Japan the cooler it sounds - it's just so wonderfully bizarre and strange and different and I just need to go now!!
8. What is your favourite book and why?
I've said this before: I'm VERY fickle when it comes to books, mainly because every book I read I immediately think is my new favourite book. But whenever I'm feeling sad I will read little dog-eared exerts of Paper Towns by John Green and then I feel a little better.
9. What colour undies are you wearing? ;)
Blue ones with owls on them, they're crazy cute
10. What do you think happened to MH370?
I think there was an electrical spark and they needed to turn off everything as a fire safety precaution, and then it just ran out of petrol somewhere in the ocean.
11. What is your favourite smell?
The smell right before rain. You know what I'm talking about it, you can smell it in the wind. OOh that's a good smell.
12. What is your Myers-Briggs personality type and do you think it accurately represents you?
When I took the test five years ago, I was ENFP, but looking at it now, I think I am ENFJ. I think personality is a very complicated, fluid concept, and while I find tests like the Myer-Briggs endlessly interesting, it's difficult for something like that to be very accurate.
13. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite and why?
To be honest, my favourite Harry Potter character is Lord Voldemort. As the ultimate villain in the series, Voldemort was still incredibly three-dimensional. One of my favourite books was the Half-Blood Prince because we get such insight into Voldemort. I think it's so important to remember that people aren't just born evil. I think Voldemort helps me understand the terrible things that happen in this world as the result of single human beings who aren't trying to be evil, they're trying to be powerful. It's a great commentary on the nature of humans I think.
14. Snape - pure evil or just misunderstood? Why?
I guess I've already answered this question, but Snape was definitely not pure evil. Misunderstood is perhaps not the right word either, because he was purposely misleading. I think Snape incorrectly projects his fantasies on Lily, and while some might want to view that as some kind of undying romanticism, I think it's ultimately unhealthy. Snape is a hero, but he wasn't happy. And I think that says something about heroism and it's romanticised nature.
(shit we're getting deep about harry potter)
15. Tell me about your first (or favourite) kiss. If you haven’t yet had one, how you’d like it to be! I've never been very good at kissing the boys I like, so I haven't really had a favourite kiss yet.
16. Put your iTunes on shuffle. What are the first 5 songs?
Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club The Last of Us - Woodlock (Saw these kids busk at Burke St, everyone go buy their EP 'Lemons'!!) White Lies - Max Frost Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne (short dance break as I boogie to this song) Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
17. What is the biggest goal you’d like to accomplish before you die?
Start my own pop-cult magazine for girls.
If you had to get a tattoo right now, what would it be?
I would get this sign ♀ behind my right ear. You’re having a dinner party and can invite any 6 people, living or dead. Who do you pick and why?
1. Emma Watson, because, well, I don't think I need to explain 2. John Green, because this is a man that I have so many questions for and so many thanks to give. 3. Tavi Gevinson, because she is my queen and I need her to teach me how to be her. 4. J.K Rowling, because now I have even more questions for her and I would love to discuss who her favourite HP character is, and whether she thinks Snape's love for Lily was misguided or unhealthy or romantic. 5. Beyonce, because I recently did a hella load of research on her for my Rave assignment, and now I think she's like the coolest feminist ever and I want to talk to her about being a lady in a man's world. 6. Andy Warhol, because I'm currently reading is autobiography and I have reailsed there are many, many of his philosophies that I agree with, as well as many I disagree with, and it would be a fascinating discussion. It'd also be so cool to see him experience our world now, and I wonder if he'd be such a big fan of consumerism now. Also I think he'd get along really well with all my other guests.
You’re about to die and are allowed one final meal - with an entree, a main and dessert. What do you choose?
Ohhhh okay. Well, my final meal would no doubt be brunch, because I love brunch. For an Entree, I would have fruit (all of the fruits) and greek yogurt. For Main, I would have Sushi For Dessert, I would have Nutella.
What makes you feel the most passionate and alive? Travelling. It's not even so much the being somewhere else than the going somewhere else. The airport is my favourite place in the world, and I love planning where to go.
Who inspires you, and why John Green is by far my biggest inspiration. He wrote articles for NYTimes and books that made teenagers want to read and engage is larger discussions. He actively communicates with his readers through social media in genuine and personal ways. He seeks to educate youth culture in interesting but equally intelligent ways through multimedia platforms. He got to be involved in the production of his book's film adaptation. He doesn't degrade popular culture or teenagers or women, but rather he sees these forms of so called 'low culture' as important and legitimate and powerful. He uses his influence to bring special attention to problems around the world, and encourages others to help him decrease them. And on top of it all, he is happily married with two beautiful children. I can't think of a more successful life, and he still remains modest and appreciative of it all. Man, he's just like, the coolest person ever holy wow.
