  Lauren's Questions

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose?

New York. In a second. Then again, also happily somewhere like California/Maui/far north Queensland where I could just 'be'. I need a couple of weeks to do nothing but lie in a hammock and read for pleasure.

2. Do you have a favourite number?

Four. I'm not sure why though.

3. Do you like adventure?

It's what keeps me going in life!

4. Are you afraid of heights?

No I don't think so. I'd be scared of standing on a platform from a large height but I feel like that's pretty rational

5. Favourite TV show?

Currently The Mindy Project, as it's filling the hole The Office left in my heart.

6. Are you a morning or night time person?

Morning x 100. I left a party Friday night at 10:30 to come home to bed and was up at 7 the next day. I can stay awake late if I'm reading/watching a movie/at a sleepover, but I don't like being out super late.

7. What is your favourite dish?

Muesli with yogurt, fruit and nuts. Does that count as a dish? If not, Yong Green Food's raw pad thai is pretty darn fab.

8. Do you have any weird habits?

Oh yes actually I've done this my whole life and realise it's quite odd; I alternate chewing each mouthful of food on the left and right sides of my mouth (and the right is my 'favourite' so I always make the last mouthful there omg i'm a freak). It's the same if I kick my leg against a wall or something by accident, sometimes I'll do the other too to 'even things out'. It's weird.

9. Is there something you wish you were talented at?

Singing, that would be a pretty neato talent. Or maybe even maths. 

10. If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?

I hate this question because deep down I believe we can do anything we put our minds too, and it's really only fear standing in our way (at least for me). I would save up and do the IIN course, and/or become a travel/health blogger and start an organisation dedicated to helping promote and improve self esteem, mental health, body image, positivity and decrease the stigma of mental illness.

11. What is the last book that you read?

My worst habit is that I read about 6 books at once and right now everything is so busy it's taken me months to get through any of them. I read a babysitters club book the other night which was obviously fab, and on the go right now I have the Dalai Lama book I posted a photo of, Life Without Limits, 801010 and BJ Novak's short stories.

1. Do you collect anything?

Babysitters Club books and giant mug bowls (from overseas). Actually all bowls really.

2. What are your current top 3 fav songs?

Recently I've been listening to a lot of 'Ain't no Mountain High Enough' by Marvin Gaye 'Broadway Here I Come' by Jeremy Jordan 'Love is an Open Door' by Frozen cast and as a bonus, my morning alarm; 'Here Comes the Sun' by The Beatles

3. What is the last movie you saw at the cinema?

I had to think about this for a really long time. I think it was either Saving Mr. Banks with Kara, Frozen with Essena, or The Wolf of Wall Street with my parents. I don't know the order but they were all in Summer.

4. If you could give yourself one piece of advice at whatever age you were 5 years ago, what would it be?

It's important to care about others but take care of yourself too. Travel as much as you can. Stop caring so much about what others think of you.

5. What did you do on your last birthday?

Ah it was such a fantastic day, I was really happy. In the morning I went for a run (it was SO warm) and had a big homemade bircher muesli at home, then went out to brunch with some family. Georgia, Kara, Kayla and Aisha came over and we made food, talked, danced, took photos and messed around until everyone else came at night. We all sat outside eating lots of delicious vegan food and telling stories until it was too dark/cold, when we all came inside and snuggled into my lounge room. It was like a BSC meeting, some lined up on the couch, some along the floor - all just talking about travel, life, periods, etc... Then Ashleigh fell asleep and we couldn't wake her and she had an asthma attack in the middle of the night and had to get a cab home to get her inhaler.

6. What is the last thing you ate?

A stir-fry with tempeh and tahini (boy oh boy it was delicious Anna)

7. Where do you most want to travel?

Back to Europe or New York I guess. There are lots of places in Europe I've never been to and want to someday see, especially Greece and Interlaken. I've also been dreaming of India for a few years now...

8. What is your favourite book and why?

I've read Mindy Kaling's 'Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me (and Other Concerns) at least 10 times. She's hilarious, but also honest, self-deprecating and gosh darn inspiring. I want to be as fearless and self-assured as Mindy is.

9. What colour undies are you wearing? ;)

You perve, Nadia. They are pink and white striped. A nice alternative to my usual plain black.

10. What do you think happened to MH370?

I'm not informed enough to make an educated guess, but I assumed there was some sort of fault/fire that caused the plane to crash and destroyed transmission technology and the remains. 

11. What is your favourite smell?

Vanilla bean. I know it's boring but it's just so smooth and calming. I also love coconut and white chocolate. Sunscreen also makes me happy.

can you tell us a little more about your tumblr friends? i actually think you girls are so cool

Well sure thing! Thank you for thinking we are cool (if you saw the snapchats we send you may just discover otherwise). I mostly follow a majority of personal blogs and therefore consider most of them to be my friends whether they know/allow it or not, but I’ll mention a few that I interact with on the reg.

First, there’s my girl Baya (or agirlnamedboy). Not only do we have freakishly similar URLs, we have just about everything else important in common too. She shares my love for Harry Potter and Friends, a lust to travel the world and understands the importance of denim and daisies. More than that, we’re doing the same course at the same university and seem to be constantly on the same wavelength when it comes to, well, anything. Her blog has always and will always be my #1 favourite and my computer always knows that when I start typing ‘agirlnamed…’ that I do in fact want to stalk her and not myself.

Then, we have Nicole (missnicole). I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t following her, we may have even been myspace friends but I’m not entire sure. The point is, Nicole inspired and continues to inspire me, so so much. I don’t know anybody as driven and filled with self-confidence than her. Not confidence in a cocky way or even a ‘I think I’m awesome 100% of the time’ way, but just her unfaltering ability to believe in herself and know that she is going to achieve her dreams. She already is.

Next we have Ajita (organicallygorgeous) who I essentially forced to be my friend by commenting on every single post she made until she had no other choice. She’s everything I want to be in life and more, but I fear i’ll just have to settle for marrying her and living happily ever after. Following her was honestly one of the best things I did last year and I still remember how excited I was when I realised she was following me too. Ajita is amazing, and if you need any further proof just look at this.

There’s Anna (thefruitrunner1) whose blog I can still remember stumbling upon for the first time. She had a picture of herself lying/sitting on a bench after a run with a big silly grin on her beautiful face, and I just remember thinking how happy, healthy and radiant she looked. Anna was one of my first and biggest inspirations to start running and look into the way I was eating/living, which I am endlessly grateful for. Anna lives near where I’m going in Queensland in two weeks and I am SO EXCITED to finally meet her. Also we’re going to meet up in Europe later this year, and possibly crash Siobhan’s house.

That brings us to Siobhan (iamnotover), whose blog I can also remember finding for the first time, because I immediately recognised all of her incredible food photos from Instagram (she’s a total celebrity on there). Eventually I discovered that not only is she an amazing cook, she’s also kind, intelligent, hard-working, personable and has a damn fine bod. Siobhan has helped me so much in ways I’ll never be able to thank her for, and continues to inspire me just by being herself. We also have a lot in common and I CAN’T WAIT to meet her too!

There’s my other Anna (annaonea), who I am so glad to have found. Proof that social media is a fantastic way to make friends, when I organised to meet up with her and another instagram user last year I never expected to feel such an instant and natural connection with someone, or find such a genuine and down to earth girl. She honestly radiates beauty inside and out, makes amazing food creations, has awesome style, is loving in everything she does, and best of all, helps me find sales on cheap bananas and chocolate at our local market. Another pal I need to meet up with in Europe this year!

We also have Demi (happylittleveganmite) who is just the cutest little thing you ever did see. Dem’s been through more than her fair share of struggles over time but is one of the most gentle and caring people I know. Whilst on her journey to healing her body and mind, she’s also bringing light, love and knowledge into the worlds of others. She shares my love of overalls, colourful food and fruit-related articles of clothing, and is going to take me strawberry picking and hopefully show me some cool places up in QLD!

Ally (eateverymealtoheal) has been through more than anybody I know in the past few months, and is a real inspiration. She’s strong, she’s painfully beautiful and best of all, has the voice of an angel - listen to her sing on her blog, the cover of Smile brings me to tears every time.

Ally (b-lergh) is just literally too cool for words.

One I must mention is Emily (millyoak), who I’ve been following for yonks and feel like I’m part of her life. She’s somewhat an older, cooler, more accomplished and talented sister in this online realm. Emily has wicked cool style and is impossibly good at all things graphic design. She also likes Darren Criss, Paul Rudd and typography, so there’s really no faulting her. 

There is also Kayla (odolnost) who I don't even know how to describe because she has grown so much (and not just her fabulous new pair of boobs). She's hilarious and flexible and looks like an American Apparel model 24/7 and I wish we could hang out in real life because her sarcasm makes me so happy.

Can’t forget my wonderful gal pal Zoe (princessconsuela). Another blogger who I feel like I’ve been following forever, Zo is your average aussie teenage girl except for her superhuman abilities in all things creative. She can write, she can draw, create digital illustrations, and I know she and her designs are going to go far. Also, if you couldn’t already tell, she’s on my level with the friends appreciation, which will always earn 50 points for hufflepuff.

Last but not least we have Lizzie (floricawild), who is one more I’ve been on this little tumblr journey with for years now. She’s a mega babe, another amazing writer and all around great girl. Lizzie has the wonderful ability equalled by maybe only Taylor Swift, in that she can capture exactly what you were thinking or feeling and put it down effortlessly and eloquently in words.

I’m also head over heels in love with Rosie (cleanbodyfreshstart), Shelb (lazypeaches), Carly (findingthinagain) and Essena (essenaoneill).

1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

2. Give me one song and the story behind it.

This is a great question so I think I'll give a few!

Good and Broken by Miley Cyrus - When I went to America in 2007 I listened to this on repeat whilst waiting for a hire car at LAX. I have no idea why or why I remember it, but that song will always remind me of that trip.

Shower The People by  James Taylor - During SWOTVAC for Year 12 I went away to a holiday house to study and I think I'd just put a bunch of new JT on my ipod, and I remember playing a lot of his songs as I got ready for bed.

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction - I remember this music video had just been released that day and I found it online (probably on tumblr). A bunch of us snuck into Patrick's house with the help of his family, and gave him a little surprise party. I remember showing this video to Annie and thinking how cute they were.

Anything by Bluejuice makes me think of Bonnie because of the private show they did at her house, except Act Your Age because I remember dancing to that at a tram stop one night very late with Rach.

Clarity by John Mayer. This was my 'myspace profile song' for so long hahah and now it's all I can think of.

Seeing Beyonce last night. Sorry Patrick and Ashley, Rent was amazing but you're no Queen Bey.

Demi's entry to win a week at Raw & Peace retreat. She's been through some awful stuff in her life, is currently smashing Year 12 and fighting to recover from an eating disorder and it would be amazing if she had this to look forward to after exams. I never watched The OC either I really failed in my childhood/early teenage years. I've seen a few episodes now though and I think Seth is more my type.

4. What childhood hobby do you wish you could still do?

Monkey bars. Have you tried doing those recently??! (Excluding you, fitblrs) The ability to support my own body weight was something I severely undervalued.

5. When were you last surprised by your own actions?

A couple of weeks ago. I don't need to elaborate on that but it was definitely a positive surprise.

6. What is your favourite type of pasta and your favourite pasta sauce?

Nadia you wrote these questions just to humiliate me, didn't you? I don't like pasta. I'm the devil. Moving on.

7. Would you rather be deaf, mute or blind?

Going blind is one of my biggest fears, so definitely not that. I suppose mute. I could still experience and appreciate all of the world, I would learn a new (sign) language and make a nice new companion (my translator). Maybe he'd be cute.

8. Where are you next going on holidays?

Queensland with my main man Kara!! Potentially Byron with Ari if I can afford it but I can't get my hopes up yet.

10. Red apples or green apples?

BOTH. I go through phases. Right now I'm very pro-red. I was finding green too sour so had to make the switch for a while. Summer will probably bring me back around.

Waggs. He was one of those large Beanie Kids and he was dressed as a dog. He came with a detachable hood and I loved him. THIS is him. What a babe.

This is awful because every time I read a book I think about this but I have an awful memory so can never remember them later. UMMM Dawn from The Babysitters Club, Albus Dumbledore, Jim Halpert, Mindy Lahiri, Liz Lemon, will post more as I think of them... (Oops just realised you only wanted 3)

3. If you could have a superpower what would it be?

To stop/fast forward/rewind time with zero repercussions for anyone. Or something really boring but necessary like make everyone be nice to each other and end wars, inequality, food insecurity and cancer.

I don't even think I need to answer this one

5. Would you rather be the smartest person in the world or the hottest person in the world?

The smartest people are rarely the happiest, and being too hot would just be a burden. Keep me average!

1. Sometimes Mindy Kaling reminds me of myself so if I'm anything at all similar to her that's something I love.

hey hi!

I was tagged by the lovely agirlnamedboy to do this and it seemed really interesting and just a fun way for you to get to know me a bit more and hey I’m procrastinating and this seemed like a good way to fill some time!

1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I’m not entirely sure! I’m not much of a planner, I’m more of a hell-lets-just-do-this-and-whatever-happens-happens kinda gal so I couldn’t really say. I do know where I’d wish to be in 10 years, though. Hopefully somewhere I love (preferably London because it’s my favourite place ever), doing my music and being able to live off that because in all honesty that’s my dream in life.

2. Give me one song and the story behind it. Um.. I don’t know whether to choose a happy one or a sad one. This is difficult! So many songs hold so many memories for me, memories I cherish a whole lot.

Back in July I was in Europe and I only had about 100 songs on my iPhone and I ended up listening to the song ‘Close’ by Lewis Watson a million times. I listen to that song and I remember driving through the South of France, the windows down and the wind blowing my hair off my face, not having a care in the world. It was such a beautiful place and the song is incredible and it’s just a very happy memory.

3. Best thing to happen all week? I’m going to take this as in the last 7 days, rather than since Monday. Last Friday my best friend came over and we had a very enjoyable time together, just hang out and talking through all our problems and I haven’t laughed that hard in a very, very long time.

4. The worst joke you’ve ever heard. Knock Knock Who’s there? Kenya Kenya who? Kenya keep it quiet down there?!

5. This should be the next viral video… I have an incredibly talented friend Nick who is a singer/songwriter and he really needs more recognition because he is AMAZING so yeah definitely check out his superb video clip here

6. The book you will read to your children The Magic Faraway Tree. Lame and it’s definitely not T.S. Eliot but it was my favourite as a child and that’s something I’d love to share with them.

7. One moment when you were really proud of yourself in 2013 I did my first proper gig this year, which I was so proud to have done and yeah it just made me really happy.

8. If I could marry one person, it would be… Oh man I have no idea I love everyone. Someone with the personality of John Green, but the looks of…. I don’t really mind. The only reason I would have John’s physical appearance is because he is significantly older than myself and it’d be weird… Maybe if he looked like Eddie Redmayne… I definitely wouldn’t be complaining.

9. Favourite thing in your wardrobe All my shoes. I can’t pick one pair, although my trusty pair of black Docs have been with me through thick and thin and I really do adore them.

Probably breaking the rules here but I just can’t answer this question, I have no idea!
