Just because it doesn’t look good doesn’t mean it is not good! . . . If you scroll down through the feed of this blog account, you’ll notice that a lot of the pictures I post are of lush landscapes and delicious dishes; both of these are extremely appeasing to the eye and require a fair amount of time, concentration and observation toward finding the right moments to snap them. I would spend time cooking a dish (or mom would spend time cooking a dish for me) and plating it up; alternatively, I would actively keep an eye out for a landscape I had not noticed before, eager to capture it with my phone lens. Right now, I am not presented with many opportunities to do this, due to a range of reasons. Mom still makes amazing food; however, we often lack the patience and resolve to plate it up beautifully and reach for our camera before gobbling it up. With regards to heading out and clicking pictures, it’s kind of a given as to why that is not happening. Today, I post a picture of a DELICIOUS AND SMASHING bowl of hummus which my dad blended up for me. It tastes amazing, but it doesn’t necessarily look amazing. I think we could all do well to get some reassurance of the fact that we needn’t look our Sunday best to assure everyone that we feel great. Just making it known to yourself is enough; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. . On another note, it is absolutely okay to show everyone else that you’re not okay; in fact, I think that’s more important. It may not make sense, but your burden is not yours to bear alone. Your peers, your loved ones, your family, this community; all of us are here to help you (and each other) get through these rough times as unscathed as possible. . . . Don’t be afraid to show how you feel; it takes guts, but it’s not all that bad. Okay?
