"Yay!" Evie squealed in delight, excited to meet everyone. She watched him put everything away while standing next to a closed stall. She looked around at the other horses curiously, smiling and giggling with excitement. "Do you think they'll like me?" she asked him, looking in his direction now. She hoped they would, but what if they didn't? Were any of them mean? (Blip~)
//Sorry this took me so long sweetie! //Pausing, Armin considered this question carefully. First he thought of Mikasa. The last thing the blonde would say she was is heartless. No, Ackerman has a heart, but she is not one to trust quickly. And perhaps she would question Armin's choice in bringing her back to base. Then he thought of Eren. He was determined to wipe the Titans off the face of the earth. Even if he had to do it single handedly. He too might also question the logic to brining a child to the base of the Survey Corps. But on the same note, the two were his best friends. Maybe they would help him win the case over with Levi. But, he smiled down at the kid, kneeling down and picking her up again. "They'll love you."
Evie nodded and smiled at him, looking around curiously at the other horses. It was an odd experience being around so many animals that she'd only seen in pictures, but it was nice. She felt safe in the stables, being calmed by the earthy smell. "Okie dokie," she said, turning her attention back to him. "Whatcha gotta do?" (Blip~)
"I’ve just got to take the saddle and bridle off of her, then we can go inside so you can meet everybody." Actually, I’m worried about what everyone will think… Eren and Mikasa might think taking in a child is insane, seeing as though I am just one myself. But what can I do? He grunted as he took the saddle off, taking it over to the tack room where he placed it down on its spot. Then, he sprinted back and he took the bridle off of his mare, petting her face for just a moment before he put her back into her stall. ”Good girl,” He encouraged as he closed the door, locking it tight so she wouldn’t go anywhere.
"Okay," she replied softly, still holding onto him tightly. He was soft and warm, just like she remembered her parents to be. "I'll wait for you, so you gotta be careful okay?" her voice took on a firmer tone, nuzzling her face against his shoulder lovingly. She yawned and sighed, feeling content. (Blip~)
Smiling, he wrapped an arm around her briefly before putting his hand back on the reins. "Of course, I'll come back," He promised, but it was the emptiest vow he had ever made. Anyone in the Corps knew that the death toll was high, and you had just as good of a chance as anyone else to die out there and never come back.A few minutes later, they arrived at the stables of the Scouting Legion, where all their beasts remained in tight stalls. A few made small nickers at the arrival of Mina. "Alright, I need you need to hang on," Armin warned the girl. Luckily for them, no one was in the stables.
For a moment, Evie just stared at Armin in astonishment. Did she hear him right? Was he offering to take her in? It was almost impossible for her to comprehend, and before she knew it tears welled up in her eyes. A bright smile broke out on her face and she hugged him tighter, while yelling out "yes, yes, yes, yes!" over and over again. "Thank you Armin," she whispered, snuggling closer against his warm body. She wouldn't be all alone, she was gonna be okay. (Blip)
Laughing, Armin hugged her back, allowing himself to nuzzle her head with his nose. "Just remember that I'm in the military, okay? And we're going outside the walls soon- just for a few hours -but you'll have to stay at headquarters and wait for me to get back, okay?"If everything went according to plan, this little girl would be his third reason to make it back from the outside world.
Evie smiled, still keeping her tight grip on Armin as he lifted himself onto the horse. "Heehee!" she giggled delightedly, never having been on a horse before. It was exciting. While she looked around at their surroundings, she couldn't help but feel mesmerized. "Yes?" she asked softly when she heard him call her name, turning her attention to him. (Blip~)
Honestly, he was glad the small one was enjoying herself so much. Of she was suffering so much before, it brought Armin a great sense of euphoria to know he was making the child happy. But this question had to be asked. "You'll have to live somewhere... I understand if you say no, but would you like me to take care of you?"
"Yeee!" Evie let out another squeal, followed by a happy giggle. She'd never been around a horse before and she was enjoying this one's company. "Okie dokie Armin," she said in response to him, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. "I'm ready~" (Blip~)
Knowing the girl would hang on tight, Armin lifted one of his feet into the stirrups, then he reached his arms up to the hump of the horse’s shoulders. Then with a grunt of effort, he heaved himself up into the saddle, along with the small girl. ”Alright,” He said with a smile as he took the reins into his hands, “keep hanging onto me and we’ll go nice and slow.” Giving a small cluck to Mina ((cute head canon that he would name his horses after his fallen comrades)) to coax her to move. Listening to her rider, the mare took slow and steady steps towards the castle. ”Hey, Evie?”
