Just wondering, is the evil!Douxie AU gonna follow RotT canon or do you have another idea for how defeating the Arcane Order would go in that universe?

I am definitely finding a way to incorporate another idea because the way ROTT was written.... yikes yeah I'm gonna get creative for sure

Hi, I'm not sure if you've finished the Evil!Douxie Au, I haven't read them all yet but I had a though of Douxie during his redemption arc trying to bring Merlin back because guilt, sad bby

It had been put on hold for an indefinite period of time :') BUT I shall make exceptions for this ask.

Remember how Merlin gave a little glimpse of the Battle of Killahead to the original gang in Trollhunters? Now imagine Morgana doing the same for Douxie, but of the times when Merlin cared about Douxie, even if he didn't show it.

[NOTE: This takes place in Timeline A where the old lady Douxie befriends, is an enchantress! HOWEVER, this also takes place after Rise of the Titans]

"Among all my apprentices, Hisirdoux has shown an innate talent for magic and continues to progress farther than what even I could have imagined at his age," Merlin states nonchalantly, polishing an empty vial saved for the potion he was making tomorrow. Douxie remembers the color -- it was a mix between a stormy red and cloudy pink. After all he dropped the said potion. Not on purpose of course, but it was quite a fiasco. He can't say that he remembers the incident very fondly.

"By 'all my apprentices' does that include I as well, master?" Morgana teases. Merlin rolls his eyes.

"Oh, Morgana, don't take my words for Hisirdoux as any ill towards your abilities. You know I'm proud of you both."

"Hm, well it's hard to say at times. The boy wants to move on to the advanced spells and quite frankly I think he's ready. Yet you refuse him so, without any room for argument."

Merlin sets down the vial, a deep sigh escaping his lungs.

"I worry for his ego. Hisirdoux is a good kid and he's never given me a reason to believe anything that says otherwise; however, I've seen many great wizards fall to the whim of pride, greed, and an aversion to embarrassment and failure. For a powerful wizard like him, he needs to learn humility. Only then can I be at peace with him moving onto more... advanced magic."

Morgana shows Douxie many more of these memories that she has, of the hidden times when Merlin let down his guard to express his fatherly side. It eats away Douxie, slowly but surely.

And then it hits him. By then it's night and he's sobbing in his bed. Archie awakes at the hiccups and sniffles.

"Douxie, Douxie what's wrong?"

"I killed him Arch, I killed him. I... I messed up so much I can't -"

And Archie knows exactly what he's talking about. In fact, he had been expecting for this day to come -- except now that it's here, he doesn't know what to say. He curls up for Douxie to wrap his arms around. If the embrace is too tight, if he finds it hard to breathe, then that's a secret for Archie and him only.

The next few days, Douxie looks off. Even his band notices it. Not that he's changed back into his apathetic self per se, but tired. Fatigue shows in the dark circles under his eyes, and the slow trudging walks whenever dragged around somewhere. A faint smile lies on his lips sometimes, but it disappears just as quickly as it comes.

Archie tells Morgana about this new development and she agrees to get to the bottom of it. What she doesn't expect to see is Douxie standing alone in the ruins, a burst of blue, black, and white magic erupting from his hands. A mix of light and dark magic.

"Douxie, stop, stop! What are you doing?" she yells, pulling him back. Douxie's scleras revert from black to white and he pushes her back, though not as harshly as she expected.

"What do you think I'm doing? I'm bringing Merlin back," he spits out.

Morgana looks at him with a knowing look: he's finally grieving. And that gaze burns a fiery anger in Douxie. But not at her -- at himself. He brought this upon himself. The sorceress raises a hand to his cheek, while tears fall upon her own.

"Douxie... I saw him go. He's never coming back."

For your younger Douxie au, does Douxie ever get hurt from his shenanigans? Does he try to hide it from Merlin? -M.H. Anon

The first time he gets hurt, he definitely hides it from Merlin. He doesn’t want to bother Merlin because he’s busy right now and since he gets hurt often on the streets, it’s not really a big deal for him? He just rinses them with water (clean water now that he’s in the castle) and waits for them to heal.

Merlin wonders Douxie went and he didn’t want a repeat of losing him like Archie did before. He finds the apprentice and his familiar writing in a little journal while watching the knights of the round table train.

He’s appalled to see the bloodstain on Douxie’s sleeve.

“Hisirdoux! What happened to your arm?”

“Uh nothing! It’s okay!”

“Absolutely not!”

And Merlin is glaring at the knights because there is a child bleeding in front of them and they didn’t think to give him aid? What kind of knights were they? And then it hits him.

They’re training with swords. Hisirdoux has an arm gash. Lancelot and Galahad meet a rage that rivals that of dragons.

“You dueled a child?”

“He asked for it sir!”

“YOU DUELED A CHILD?!”

This.... this isn’t a battle these two knights could win. After yelling at them for a good seven minutes, Merlin huffs and gently pulls Hisirdoux by the hand.

“Let’s go back, I’ll treat your arm.”

Once there, the wizard props the boy up and pulls his sleeve up. There are bandages messily wrapped around the wound. He unwinds the wrappings and place them in water to clean. 

“Why didn’t you come to me as soon as you got hurt?”

“I didn’t want to bother you...”

“That’s how you see wounds as? Bothersome?”

“Yeah?”

Merlin is surprised to hear that. Most people fear pain and once wounded, find it hard to move on without handling it in some sort of way. Yet Hisirdoux would rather find ways to ignore it and keep going. In a way Merlin admires his tenacity, but at the same time, realistically, a child can’t keep bleeding. It’s simply too dangerous.

“Look boy, I don’t know what injuries you’ve acquired out there, but in here they can be treated. We can help. Just please, tell us next time before it’s too late.”

I was listening to "Ignorance" by Paramore and I feel like it fits not-quite-yet-evil!Douxie when he leaves Merlin, and then again when Hisirdoux possesses Jim

I can totally see this! The lyrics do a sound like that a lot.

For Pre-Evil Douxie:

“Where's your gavel? Your jury? / What's my offense this time? / You're not a judge, but if you're gonna judge me / Well, sentence me to another life”

‘Well you treat me just like another stranger”

For Evil Douxie:

“I’m not the same kid from your memory”

“If I'm a bad person, you don't like me / Well, I guess I'll make my own way”

Merlin:

Bet you didn’t see that coming? The main lyrics is “Ignorance is your best friend” which, technically is true because in the AU, Merlin isn’t aware that Hisirdoux is alive.
