Boba's Birthday Gift
<3 @bobasbag
That morning, he wakes up feeling worse than he has before. He gives a tired groan, pulling his sailcloth closer. Starshine exits the Goddess Sword and looks at him with a frown.
“Birdie? Are you- alright?”
He only whines, shaking his head no. He’s not okay.
“Should I- can I do something for you..?”
He grabs his bracelet from where he’d left it, typing before tossing it toward the edge of the bed. It speaks in its stupid robotic voice.
“Baba.”
“Oh, you want..? I can do that, yeah!”
She leaves the room, and Birdie relaxes a little bit. She’s going to get his dad, the guy who chose him to be his son. Birdie still can’t get over it, and it’s been a good while.
The man himself rushes in, clearly concerned.
“Birdie? Kiddo? Are you okay?”
Birdie whines in response, but reluctantly pulls his sailcloth away from his face.
“Oh. Oh, buddy…”
Evil Groose puts his wrist against Birdie’s forehead, and sighs.
“You’re sick, kiddo..”
Birdie whines again. His dad gives a small smile.
“Okay. Okay, okay, I’ll go make some soup to help you feel better. Starshine, can you stay with him? Let me know if he gets any worse.”
“Of course!”
He leaves, and Starshine stays with Birdie, humming the Ballad of the Goddess for the sick hero. Evil Groose returns sometime later, with a bowl of soup for Birdie.
“Here you go, buddy… Some not-evil pumpkin soup, just for you.”
He helps Birdie sit up, climbing into the bed with him when he tries to lean against the man. Evil Groose helps Birdie eat the soup, to which the boy doesn’t complain. He loves his Baba. His dad, the one who chose him.
After the soup is gone, Birdie feels a bit better. Evil Groose hums, smiling softly as he runs his hand through his son’s hair. The boy relaxes at the feeling, he’s always loved it when people run their hands through his hair.
He ends up falling asleep like that, to his Baba running fingers through his hair still. They spend the time that he's sick to just relax. Evil Groose makes sure Birdie eats and sleeps, doing things like reading him stories or telling tales for fun to make him smile. It takes a few days, but by the time Birdie has recovered, Evil Groose has gotten sick.
Sometimes, I think my tumblr feed algorithm knows EXACTLY what it’s doing
@mmelete @evil-groose I thought y'all might appreciate the juxtaposition
psst.. Should we pop the question? - @evil-groose
*evil gasp*
YES YES YES YES!!!!
How do you think we should go about it?
*Birdie walks over, a tiny smile on his face — fake. Put on. It’s only because Groose knows Sky so well that he can tell, though.
*He makes no move to communicate, sitting down next to the man and leaning against him, pulling out carving tools and starting to work.

(Aka I wanted interaction n ur always the first person I think of lol)
[He sits up straight as he sees Birdie walking over to him. He pats the spot next to him, smiling lightly as he sits down.]
[He notices the fake smile. He won't say anything though, he'll let Birdie have this. As Birdie leans on him, he ruffles his hair lightly. If Birdie wants quiet company, then damn it he'll give him quiet company.]
[He carefully grabs a part of Birdie's hair that was in his face and begins to braid it to the side, making sure not to obstruct his view in the process. He's keeping an eye on his expression to see if Birdie is uncomfortable with it or anything though.]
*Birdie runs over, hugging Groose before he can react. He buries his face in the man’s shirt, sobbing. He wants — needs — to think about something other than himself. So he came to the first person he thought of.
- @knight-in-training-sky
[He doesn't even register whats going on before he feels Birdie hugging him. He wraps his arms around him tightly, mostly on instinct. He's.. showing proper emotions again. Did he get them back?]
[This must be so overwhelming for Birdie.. It breaks his heart to see him cry like this. He's not too sure how to help properly, but he'll do his best. Birdie deserves his best.]
*About a week has passed since you went to the Surface with Birdie. You haven't seen him much in this time -- apparently, a friend came to visit, offered to get someone to make a replacement hand, then he decided to stay there for a festival.
*Now, you finally see him again, though he doesn't see you. He's walking, wearing his bloody and torn knight's uniform still, but something about his body language is... Off. He doesn't seem to be acting as himself. Fi is nowhere to be seen, the Goddess Sword hanging on Birdie's back in a way that seems strange, on a deeper level than physical.
@knight-in-training-sky
(apparently im in a narrative mood lol)
[He brightens as soon as he sees Birdie, then narrows his eyes as he takes in his clothes and body language. Where's Fi? Why are his clothes still bloody..?]
[He jogs up behind him and taps him on the shoulder lightly, noticing that he doesn't seem to be wearing his hair clip either.] Hey, little bird... It's been a while. Are you alright? Is everything okay?
*Birdie walks over slowly, his sailcloth hiding his left side. He isn’t limping, just dragging his feet, as though he doesn’t want to have this conversation. Fi walks next to him — her wing-cape arms replaced by actual arms and hands. They look off, as if she didn’t put much thought into them.
- @knight-in-training-sky
[Groose shoots up from his spot at the bridge as soon as he sees them, rushing over as fast as he can. He can tell something's wrong. He's a little scared to find out just what else can get worse at this point. He eyes Birdie's left side, then glances at Fi as if looking for an explanation, pausing when he sees her hands. His Sky's Fi never manifested hands before.. he hadn't known she could do that. He shakes his head as if to snap himself out of it and looks back at Birdie, resting a hand on his shoulder gently.]
Hey, little bird.. you alright? Did something happen?
