Here's an AU I've been rotating in my brain for a bit that I'm sure you'd enjoy: Evil Handler AU, but the regular Handler is also there. This is because the Evil Handler is from the future, specifically from a timeline where Phoenix died and he didn't take it well, so he went back in time to kidnap them for 'safety' and the regular Handler has to save the day.

i really like the idea of the Evil™ handler not being implicitly evil but instead just being so wrought with grief for his phoenix that he Had to do something about it-- i'm thinking of it kinda like JD from Heathers?? like, having that drive to protect the ones he loves, going so far as to kill to ensure their safety

also im thinking of the sudden dread that phoenix would feel, seeing this older, more worn handler approaching them, looking a little manic but well meaning then hearing the voice of their real Handler... they probably think its a ploy by Zoraxis again but this feels more... personal... something something psychological warfare stuff??? maybe ooh--a 'who are you, what are you doing, what do you want' moment, phoenix being backed into a corner like a feral animal. how desperate would they get, would they want to throw hands, attack this facsimile of their handler,,, oogh

Or if the Evil Handler appeared after Safe and Sound, Phoenix is unsure about whether or not the other voice is another one of Juniper's tricks. :D

imagining it's pre death engine, Phoenix is coming off operation: first class,,, they're still mildly seething at the blatant lie that they were fed about getting a vacation. so, when they're approached by the evil handler, they're still a lil skeptical OR mad. Like, imagining them verbally berating the evil handler unknowingly is really funny to me. like, evil handler is relieved to see them, shocked that this phoenix is swearing at him enough to make a sailor cringe and mildly terrifed as to what to do. kidnapping probably ensues lmfao

alternatively, some time post ieytd 2 and something about being on a mission and being contacted the evil handler? perhaps he taps into their earpiece frequency and something about his voice is Wrong and Different. Like, it's more worn-out, less jovial than they're used to. Shorter sentences, more direct dialogue and they can't help but remember waking up at that shitty little desk in a room that looked wrong, only to find out that Juniper had pretended to be their Handler. idk, some bs about some kinda trauma responses and dread that eats at their stomach.

I should mention that like, the evil Handler straight up killed Zor after Phoenix's death. Pretty brutally too, since at that point their greatest defense is gone. And then goes to Prism after a while in the hopes she'll be able to figure out how to send him back in time, which she manages because *gestures at AU*. -Evil Handler Anon

It'd definitely be very interesting to explore how Prism reacts to the evil handler asking for help. Personally, I think she'd be a little opposed to the whole murder thing? but like also a lil conflicted bc it's Zor they've done so much evil. But like, also conflicted about helping the evil handler--in the sense that she's afraid of what he's become (but yeah, ultimately relents bc deep down, she still cares about him and wants to try and make him happy)

i think deep down, she kinda hoped that she'd fail, if only to try and work through Reggie's grief in a somewhat healthier manner

#something about prism seeing reggie become everything they were against #doing anything he can to regain some semblance of control #i think she sees a little bit of herself (pre/during ieytd 3) in him #and its kinda like a role reversal?
