Green survived Vio’s attack thanks to Shadow’s help, but he’s in no condition to fight. With one of them down and Vio prepared to strike, Red and Blue allowed Shadow to join the team. They devised a plan and travel to the Tower of Winds to stop Vio before he can take Hyrule for himself. It’s reckless, but they have a trick up their sleeve that Vio doesn’t know about, and they can only hope it’s enough to stop Vio before it’s too late.

Shadow sensed the darkness within Vio as soon as Link split, as did Ganon and Vaati. Shadow’s directed to recruit Vio and he eagerly complies. However, quickly after Vio joined the team, Vaati’s influence cultivated his dark magic dangerously. Vio devised a plan to lure the heroes to Death Mountain and weaken them irreparably, and their superiors love the idea. Shadow can only agree, though the delight Vio has taken in their evil escapades has made Shadow doubt his own beliefs.

The heroes arrived, and Vio enacts his plan.

Shadow doubted his cause, his allegiances. He feared what Vio was capable of, but he doubts his ability to prevent Vio’s rise to power. Before Vio joined, he’d been so sure that this is what he’d wanted. The affirmations he got from his superiors for causing destruction had been worth the strange ache in his chest and the nightmares each night. But now Shadow was forgotten, a pawn to do his master’s bidding, and Vio’s friendship seemed more conditional by the day.

He was horrified that Vio tried to kill one of his own, especially after all the love and kindness he’d watched the heroes give through the Dark Mirror.

Shadow knew he was running out of time, and he was beginning to form a plan.
