Dumb Idea #10 – The Soul Sprite AU

Every hylian is born with a soul sprite. The tiny being, sometimes called a daemon but a fae-like being instead of an animal-based one, flittered around a person’s shoulder. When Time was young and live among the Kokiri, he thought his sprite was a fairy. The Kokiri, who knew the difference, told him that thing was no fairy. It didn’t speak or have a name. It was his own soul given form. Time didn’t understand that truth. He only understood it wasn’t a fairy, and he wanted a fairy not whatever the sprite was. So he sent it away. He lost part of himself.

When he went amongst hylians, they thought Navi was his soul sprite. They kept a respectful distance from her, and Time learned that soul sprites were treasured parts of every hylian to be trusted only with those closest to them. But Time had lost his real sprite. Navi often reassured him that he would find his lost sprite one day. Then she left. And he went from a Kokiri without a fairy to a hylian without a sprite.

Time learned to hide that he had no sprite. He pretended that he hid his away to keep it safe. He searched high and low for it and Navi. He found neither. He saved Termina. He returned to Hyrule and fell for Malon. She trusted him with her soul sprite, and he trusted her with his secret. They married without exchanging sprites at the altar for his sake. Many friends tried to get close enough to be trusted with his sprite, but none were trusted with his secrets.

And then he met the Chain. Each one had a sprite. And Time once again found himself lying about hiding his sprite. Until one day, he couldn’t. One day, a wizrobe fused everyone with their sprite, and he was fused with nothing.

On that day, his younger brothers decided as one that they would find Time’s lost sprite using their own. Their souls shared a spirit, and with that spirit they would find the lost piece of Time’s soul and return it to him.

@yashahimewasamistake Yes. This is genius! Shadow Link would be Time's sprite. And all his angst is wrapped up in Time rejecting him. Imagine Time realizes he is the reason this quest needed to happen. The time-hopping powers Shadow has are from him. Are an extension of his own learned magic. So Time either needs to kill part of himself forever or find a way to get that part of himself back. To forgive it and himself. Meanwhile the Chain has to choose whether they will or won't kill the Shadow which is part of Time. Will they let him kill that part if he chose? Would they make the choice for him? So many cool possibilities. Not to mention the possibility of a Shadow Link joins the Chain fic where then they have to disband afterwards. Would Shadow Link be okay with these brothers who made him and Time whole just leaving?

Hey everyone. There's a new youtube feature that rolled out just yesterday that's raising some privacy concerns.

Expanding ways to share on YouTube

People in the U.S., U.K., Brazil, and Singapore can now share videos and chat with friends directly within the YouTube app. The update bring

This post talks about a new DM feature in youtube. What it fails to mention is that as part of this new feature is that when you send someone a link to a video, and they open it in the youtube app, they will see who sent them the link. Specifically, your channel name.

If your google account name is your real name, so is your channel name by default.

This means the new default behavior is that everyone you send a youtube link to will see your full name if they open it in the mobile app.

To turn this off:

Go to your youtube app settings

Go to Privacy

Turn off "Channel visibility for shared links"

Trimming the source id (the stuff after the '?' in links) will also prevent this from happening.
