So you became one of my favorite blogs/people on the Tumblr because you read Harry dresden! I'm finally at the 7th book but I promise I will catch up to the series. I would love to hear how you feel about the entire series!
Just looked at the books. You are Dead beat now, yes? Many consider that their favorite book. I think mine may be Small Favor.
I love the series. More, I love the world and how it works and how magic works. I often compare it to Harry Potter and how in the Potter world all magic is the same. Say the same words, the same wand motion, the same formula for every person for every spell, ever. I hate that.
In Dresden the magic is far more personal, far more organic. No two wizards are alike. And I say this to cast a spell, you say something different, and achieve the same effect but through an entirely different means.
For example, Harry uses a magic force shield. It pops up, and the force is either deflected or absorbed. Simple and straight forward. Ramierez, his shield, (you will see it later in the book. Not much of a spolier) creates a thick field in front of him that slows down and disintegrates incoming projectiles. Very different.
The White Council, the Courts (I love the Black Court) and Dragons. We havent seen near enough Dragons. I disliked in Potter how Dragons were far more animalistic as opposed to ancient beings of Majesty and magic.

Also this reminds me, I picked up extra copies of the first few books some months ago intended for a Giveaway. I will probably do that when I get back from Denver in a few weeks.
