I am! I do seals very like that -- I cut out around rather than undercut, but it's the same general theory. Lately I've been seeing a new technique on youtube that I want to try, but I haven't gotten my sealing kit out in a while. I've been wanting to clean it up a little -- I have a binder with display pockets that I'm going to put some of my seals in, and probably either give away or melt down the rest.

The problem with playing with sealing wax when you're bad at writing letters is you tend to end up with a lot of spare seals. I've turned some into "coins" and some into stickers, but at the end of the day I've still got a box of what amounts to shiny hot glue in cool shapes :D

Desmond/Alex - 11 or 40

“Don’t you dare throw that snowba-, goddammit!”

“Have I entered an alternate universe or did you really just crack a smile for me?”

Alex had narrowed his gaze at the snow falling around them. Not that that was anything new — the guy stared at everything with suspicion.

“What, you’ve never seen snow before?” Desmond teased, stuffing his hands into his pockets as the snow swirled around them, getting thicker. It had been snowing for a while, their shoes crunching  with each step. Except Alex walked like he normally did, stalking forward without slipping and Desmond was sure he’d seen a flash of black tendrils securing him in place.

Alex glanced at him and simply said, “No.”

It took a second until Desmond got it. “Riiight, gotcha.” Sentient virus who had only possessed Mercer’s body a couple of months ago: this was Alex’s first winter. At least, seeing it with his own eyes rather than through someone else’s memories.

And it seemed like Alex was distracted, maybe sorting through all those memories, since he’d pulled ahead. 

If he was going to leave his back that open… Desmond ducked and scooped up a handful of snow.

The sound must have alerted Alex because he paused, turning around.

“What are you-”

Desmond threw.

There was a second where Alex stood, unmoving, and Desmond had a flash of uncertainty. There wasn’t a lot of people around but someone transforming body parts into tentacles was kind of eyecatching. Especially against white snow.

Alex raised a hand, batting the snowball out of the way. With a regular hand, not a transformed one.

“Starting a snowball fight,” Desmond said, scooping up another fistful of snow. “You should have seen me the first time I got to play with snow when I got out the Farm.” Training in the snow was wholly different than playing, especially being able to watch younger kids play together.

Desmond tossed up the newly formed ball, ignoring the prickle of the cold. He’d probably start using his sleeves soon, but for now it wasn’t too bad. “So what do you say about making your own memories about snow?”

Alex tracked the snowball and -

Desmond blinked, almost letting the snowball slip through his fingers. “Did I just jump into an alternate universe or did you really just smile?” Though knowing his luck, jumping universes was probably doable. It was more a small curl of a lip rather than a smile, but it was still more friendly looking than the almost permanent glower Alex had.

“You make it sound like my face would break if I did,” Alex said, snorting. 

Maybe twist a little with tentacles because they were so unused to moving. “I didn’t say th-” Desmond ducked from the incoming snowball.

With a laugh, Desmond returned fire.

As Mem said, there are city ordinances involved, but I also wanted to add that you see those stickers everywhere. The bubble-tea shop across the street has one too, and the bar down the block. On non-city buildings they refer specifically to concealed carry -- basically anyone can put one on their door and that means you can’t bring a gun of any kind inside -- but I think they’re also treated as a sort of public awareness campaign. Chicago has a significant gun violence problem and alongside being a legal notice, they’re also a sign of “hey we don’t support people shooting each other”.

                   shoot though that scene where Rai seals Franken has bothered me all this time cos of the above reasons!!!^ Rai sealing Franken in order to protect him from Dark Spear (hearing them Voices, random cases of getting eaten alive etc etc) feels a lot more legit.   But yeah, I still agree it's all cos of Retcons™                

And they did say that Frankenstein used to suffer from nightmares (that yet again were never touched upon after that). So there’s a whole bunch of good reasons for Rai to seal Frankenstein for his own well-being. Not...that.

The retcons/explanations also seem like they’re trying to make Frankenstein a Good Character after all the hints of him being a Mad Scientist before, and by doing that, they’re making everyone else look WORSE.

                   Well I just meant the times we've seen him when he's kinda become one with DS i.e fight with Urokai and Lunark. He never spoke during those times, he just yelled and attacked everything who got in his way, even Rai. The fact that he's still, well, himself right now makes me think that he'll be stronger than he was during those times. Plus, he hasn't used Blood Spear so maybe he'll just use that to defeat Dorant lol but yeah, I agree, that scene with the seal was BS :3

But yeah, you’re right, him actually communicating now does say he’s got a better handle over Dark Spear.

So what if Tao’s on the sofa, messing about on his laptop as per usual, and he needs to go get something from the kitchen. So without looking up, he sends a couple of cables over and they end up poking Rai.

He squeaks.

Tao, not realising who’s sitting next to him, grins and pokes him again.

Rai squeaks again.

“Aha!” Tao says, raising his head. “You’re ti-” He sees who he’s been poking and oH SHIT OH SHIT I’M DEAD I’M DEAD.

Rai’s almost bright red because no-one’s touched him like that before so he has no idea why his body was reacting like that.

Sorry to bother you but I searched your tumblr and LJ but either I just couldn't find or imagined it to begin with: did you ever talk about making your own yoghurt and whatever you store the part you want to use for your next batch in the freezer? It's the freezer part that I'm most interested in and I'd like to know from someone who actually done this if it's okay to freeze yoghurt and still use it to cultivate the next batch? Would it make any difference if it's soy yoghurt? Thanks in advance!

I’m sure I must have, somewhere, but God knows where :D 

It is 100% okay to freeze dairy yogurt. You can freeze it to thaw and eat later (or eat it frozen, which I’ve found helps with texture issues) or you can freeze a little bit of it for a yogurt culture, and then thaw it later and just plop it into the milk you’re heating for yogurt-making. Freezing doesn’t kill the bacteria that make yogurt yog -- at least, not standard icebox-freezer temperatures. 

I’ve never eaten or made soy yogurt. A quick google seems to indicate that like dairy, the soy version is fermented, so you’re still dealing with bacteria -- whether they’re the same kind as dairy yogurt, I don’t know. If you make your own soy yogurt, I would do an experiment -- first see if freezing it and then thawing it affects the taste/texture, and then try making a small batch, maybe a half-recipe, with thawed-from-frozen soy yogurt and soy milk, and see if it yogs correctly. :D If it does, you know that it’s ok to do the same in the future.

You can try making dairy yogurt with a soy culture, but I can’t be held responsible for the outcome :D
