Evolution as a writer
Me, at 15: “I’m gonna write a super fun young adult fiction, where both main characters - and obviously a couple - are going through high school and they are part of a super secret society to protect the world and eventually fall in love!”
Me, at 21: “You know, that story was cool. I’m gonna rewrite it - but they’ll be older, they’ll meet during University. Things are going to be a lot more mature, I was such a kid writing it... And the story will sound better divided in two parts with a happy ending for the couple. Maybe they can retire on the countryside...?”
Me, at 26 (almost 27): “Scratch the whole initial story. Yes, they’ll meet at University. They’ll marry, have a child - but he’ll die in his beloved arms to save them and BECOME THE KING OF SPECTRES BECAUSE SHE’LL HAVE TO DISTURB HIM LONG AFTER HIS DEATH TO SAVE THE WORLD.”
I was just amused at how I started this story so innocently around 10 years ago and yesterday I was just “so, you have to build the guts to kill him, it’ll be so much better if he has to battle his own soul from becoming something like a ringwraith”.
And it was supposed to be an action/romance young adult novel *sighs* so interesting to see how much we grow with time!
