After teaming up with L1ZY on See Through last month and making an appearance on NoMBe’s swaggering Drama earlier this year, Brooklyn's Big Data has regaled us with news of his next album, named 3.0. And he’s also returned with that Big Data big sound on new track Evolution Once Again, another scintillating mashup of the project’s dashing electronica and dramatic rock. Rhythmic keys, brassy flares, and smooth vocals, inflected with a touch of soul and a whole lot of jaunty beats, pull us into the infectiousness of Evolution Once Again, which explores how technology has been reshaping human experience. An intriguing visualizer accompanies the song, featuring a device that looks like a virtual assistant and speaker. I get the feeling that it aims to question the trust and dependence we now place on these devices, and the impersonal relationships we’ve developed with the robotic instruments.
