da:i aesthetics||duel inquisitor au Evra Lavellan + Calliope Lavellan 'The eldest and the youngest; the faithful and the unbelieving; the cautious and the curious: we are best friends and at the same time each others personal demons'
Feeling bad so have fluff. Cullen and Evra edition this time. •••••••••••••••••••••• Sunlight had began to pour in through the windows of Cullen's quarters, falling upon the two figures curled up in the Commanders bed. Of course the aforementioned man had been the first to wake, up much earlier than Evra most mornings. Both of them suffered from nightmares and insomnia, but considering the events of the week she needed the rest much more. With a slight grumble from his lover, Cullen drew her against his chest and sheltered Evra from the growing light, smiling all the while. Mussed blonde curls felt soft in his hands as he eased her back into sleep, the elf finally relaxing again. Her soft breath puffed against his chest, something like a name murmured as she curled up tighter and groaned. Concern tightened around Cullen's throat when he realized it had been Kanin's name she had whispered, the child was still missing despite their best efforts. Of course, Evra had not been taking it well. Since the death of Sorrell she hadn't been the same and Kanin's kidnapping hadn't made it any better. But by the Maker, he would help in any way he could. Even if it meant her getting an extra five minutes of sleep. Which ended up being the exact amount she got. It was moments later that Evra's face scrunched up and her eyes fluttered open, the sunlight having gotten through Cullen's 'barrier'. "Morning, love", he murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "...shoulda asked Callie for the day off", Evra yawned in response. "Right, because you would let the Inquisitor galavant off to fight a dragon without you" Evra's sharp gaze found Cullen's as she rose up, effectively pushing him down when she straddled his hips; despite her eyes casting a scowl she chuckled after a second and swatted at his chest. "Fenedhis! I can't keep a straight face around you!" Was that really a smile? A laugh? The Commander let an easy smirk glide into his lips, beyond glad he could finally get Evra to crack a smile, and he watched as she leaned down to thread her fingers with his. Never before had he thought someone so beautiful, scars and all. "Perhaps Calliope will let you stay" he hummed, just gentle enough to have her leaning forward even more. "Didn't you just say that she was chasing after a dragon, vhenan? I at least have to get a scale", Evra chuckled, softer this time. "I'm sure Josephine can-mmph!" Cullen's words were promptly cut off when his lover placed her lips upon his, smiling against him as she kissed him deeply, affectionately. Of course Evra had counted on him pulling away in shock but there was a deep rumble of laughter and the Commander passionately returned the kiss. There were not intentions of getting out of bed just yet. Calliope would understand.
Kiss from Calliope and Evra to Traesa!!
Aww, thank you for the ask! n_n!
For both Calliope and Evra, Traesa would give a kiss on the forehead (familial love, bc she thinks of all her Clanmates as family), the knuckles (she’s protective as all hell over the people she grew up with), and fingertips (bc she really does care about everyone in her Clan). :)
♒, for any of your inquisitors!! I know Evra hasn't interacted with any of them but I thought it'd be fun.
Hmm…well, since she’s a Lavellan, I think some platonic Mae and Evra is in order?? :) (Also this is based on the assumption that Evra arrived in the Clan when she was 18, I’m sorry if that’s an incorrect assumption! n_n;)
This is Home
Submitted by @catch-booker: Because Evra is a sentimental smol mage and feels way too grateful to Varlen. Also interaction beyond the nug incident, I’m still cracking up over the tags
Evra had forgotten what being home had felt like. This past year had been awfully long and much too exhausting, with having to raise a little brother and a broody teenager, all while fighting against innumerable enemies. It hadn’t been easy, but she had no idea it would have lead here. Skyhold most certainly was not filled with just smiles; some glanced at her and her siblings with a distaste that unsettled Evra deeply but it was no different than before. Beyond that however, there was so much warmth and friendliness it caught the elf off guard in so many ways. Even now as her little brother Kanin bounded about the main hall with reckless abandon, the other residents found it endearing that he would do such a thing, and found Evra’s sister hilairious. Just the right amount of bitterness and sarcasm. That dwarf with the disarming smile, Varric, had said she reminded him of someone. Hopefully whatever broody elf that was they had grown out of it by now.
“Looks like the kid could use less sugar”, the dwarf chuckled and nodded towards Kanin. Now the little blonde fluff ball had engaged a noble in conversation. His tiny hands gestured wildly as he tried to explain just how big Skyhold was and there must be a dragon somewhere on the premises.
“We’ve already tried that, Kanin is just determined to make all of my hair gray by the time I’m twenty five”
“That really wouldn’t be a bad look, you know”
“It may look downright amazing on Varlen and the Inquisitor, but believe me Varric, on me I’d look like Keeper went through the Fade and got trampled by a battle nug”, Evra sighed heavily. At least for today Sorrell had decided to take her brooding self over to the tavern and converse with the Chargers. It was a great relief to know she’d come back with a grin on her face for five seconds. For now it was just the rambunctious six year old and herself, which Evra could deal with on any given day; well as long as Kanin decided not to set something on fire. Or freeze Cullen’s boots to the floor.
“Don’t look now but I think kiddo’s got someone in his sights again”, Varric murmured to the mage who instantly whipped about to find her brother. The dwarf never told her what was going on unless it was going to end badly. Or get unwanted attention. Indeed Kanin had bounced right from the noble to a familiarly handsome face; the little boy had decided to dance in circles around a rather confused Varlen who had no doubt come into the main hall for some sort of important business, oh Creators this was going to be great. With no less than several apologies Evra elbowed her way through several groups of nobles and took a dive for her younger brother, all the while trying to ignore her rapidly beating heart. Normally she’d be perfectly fine being around Varlen, especially after the incident, but when it came to her family it was more than a little embarrassing.
“Da’vhenan! Of all the people to bother…” Evra grumbled as she swept up her little brother.
“Not to worry, he wasn’t interrupting anything”, Varlen replied, a soft smile gracing his face. It did more than he would know to ease her nervousness.
“I suppose it’s of no wonder how I can wrangle nugs so easily, now that you’ve met Kanin”
The mage tried to return the smile but was rewarded a smack to the face by her brothers wriggling. More than a few curses flew from Evra’s lips before she set down the child and watched him race over to Varric, no doubt to pout before running off to find someone else to annoy. Evra scrubbed a hand over her face before sighing for the umpteenth time that day. Perhaps Solas would be his next target and then the entirety of the Inner Circle would be in an uproar, Kanin had already decided to nickname him egg because of his baldness.
“Well at least he isn’t a nug”, Varlen finally commented, breaking the silence that had formed.
“Might as well be, sometimes I wonder why I don’t fling him out a window. Then I remember that he’d probably just get back at me by freezing my face to my staff or some nonsense”, once again another sigh but this time she allowed herself to smile, “By the way I never got a chance to thank you for letting us stay here”
“It’s really not a problem, Creators know we need the extra help”
“Thank you anyway, it’s a relief not to be running from Templars and those…mercenaries. I swear I haven’t seen Sorrell smile so much in over a year and despite what I may say, Kanin is getting a better hold on his magic. I really do appreciate how welcoming you have all been” her smile faltered a bit as the pain came back, “Really, thank you”
A touch to Evra’s shoulder fixed the smile ever so slightly; Varlen’s grin had windened considerably so much that it made the other elf laugh a bit. She wanted to chastise herself for being upset in his presence but it was so damned hard to do, one of these days Evra would give him the biggest hug she could. Home was truly here and that meant more to her than anything else in all of Thedas.

To Varlen Lavellan- Greetings are in order, my name is Evra Lavellan. I believe we have met once before, something about nugs and the horrid creatures being thrown at you. Hopefully that little problem has been fixed. The very handsome Commander Cullen has told me we’re from the same clan, I had no idea anyone even survived that bullshit, let alone got out before it happened! I’m glad you didn’t get caught up in any of it. It was… not good, to say the least. I do hope you don’t mind if I drop by Skyhold soon, my younger siblings and I may have something useful for the Inquisition. Or we could always lend a hand if you are in need of a mage or two.
Dareth shi'ral, Evra
((Varlen’s response below))
Aneth ara, Lethallan!
I believe I recall that incident. I must say - your ability to maneuver a squirming nug perfectly out of a small window was truly impressive to behold! I only hope one day I will possess such immaculate aim under similarly trying circumstances. As of writing this letter, they have yet to subject me to further nug-related torment. Although... that is probably because they felt sorry for those pink, hairless vermin, rather than any real fondness for my mental health. After all, these people seem to revel in making me uncomfortable!
Ah yes, the Commander mentioned the same to me as well, about our shared tie to clan Lavellan. My heart still aches, thinking about those we lost to the bandits (or whoever they truly were). All of my attempts to investigate have either been cut short due to lack of resources to spare, or returned nothing new. While I am glad myself and my sister were not in harms way... it is a small victory amidst a great tragedy. I am glad you and your siblings also survived; in fact, it warms my heart it. More than you could ever know.
I do not mind at all if you choose to come to Skyhold - in fact, I encourage it, if such a thing is truly your wish! There will always be a place for you here; be it a new home, or just a momentary shelter while you decide where it is you wish to go. Creator’s know the Inquisition can use all the help it can get, and from mages? Absolutely. Any assistance you could offer, while not demanded, would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, simply consider Skyhold as a safe place - our gates will always be open for you
Dareth shiral, Evra. Travel safely.
-- Varlen Lavellan
I AM LAUGHING SO HARD. SAVIOR OF THE CHEESE LORD. Evra will for sure throw them out the window for him, the poor man needs a break from the nug throwing.
YES. YES HE DOES. Beloved Evra is a kind soul, to take the time to rescue Varlen from cruel, nug-tossing anons! I could just see him, drowning in a sea of them as they squeaked and squealed and snuffled. He’d probably choose any form of death over nug-asphyxiation.
