DWC - August 2025 - Day 2 - Layer
Some things one just…adapted to.
Osric was used to getting himself prepared to head out into the Coerthan Highlands. His clothes were designed to help him cope with the cold and he'd adapted to being back in the frigid weather.
Not that he spent more time out in the more bitter days than he absolutely had to — but training had to be done, and supplies had to be gathered. Some things couldn't be ignored.
He could manage being a little cold — things were different when the twins were visiting.
Even though he made sure the house was well stocked so they wouldn't have to leave outside often (and they were young enough that outside of short trips just outside the house they were content with that) there was still the occasional trip that had to be made…and when there was one, well…
Osric tilted his head, eyeing the ball of clothing that was his daughter. In all honesty, he knew it was an appropriate number of layers to keep the little girl safe from the elements, though the way she blinked up at him from under the cap that covered her head it took everything in him to keep from laughing. Her brother next to her was not as kind, giggling and babbling — covered in the exact same number of layers as she was.
"Alright you two, let's go before something ha—"
He hadn't even finished the thought, much less the sentence when Tyr wandered over, sniffing the twins tentatively and wrinkled his nose before trotting off, eager to be away from the pair. Something smelled off, and Osric could venture a guess as to what that might be.
Slowly, with a tired sigh, Osric turned back towards Evran and Idalia, both now grinning and giggling.
"…I guess we're not leaving any time soon, are we?"
Some things…one just had to adapt to.
