another thing about steve running back into the byers house during demogorgan fight in s1 is that he had no weapon. obvs he ends up using the nail bat but that because it rolls away from jonathan but he had no way of knowing that was going to happen, he went back w no gun no plan just that he had to help . #crazyy
omg heartbroken steve is back😭 he’s never moving on from nancy i fear . from the tales of 85 trailer
steve's redemption is because of his feelings for nancy wheeler. like, steve even says this, he thanks her for it, its written in canon that he changes bc of her. its not reducing his arc to say this or makes the changes he went through any less genuine. if it was ONLY for her then after they broke up he would've gone back to his old self, but he doesn't.
Idk why people refute or argue against this, it does not make steve's character arc any less impactful, love driving change is not #cringe. People are inspired by others all the time which starts development, steve admires that nancy genuinely cares for others and it inspires him to do the same, makes him regret his actions. sorry that people think attributing it "for a girl" is oversimplifying it but to dissmiss it simply bc YOU think it reduces it to "nancy being a prize to be won" (which it doesn't ) is simply Not True.
obvs it’s to do w the fact that stranger thing seasons only take place over like a week but i love how it’s portrayed that steve is the type to IMMEDIATELY apologise. In s1 when he dismisses nancys concerns he goes to apologise the next day, when he humilates her he goes to fix it by going to jonathan’s that very night. in s2 they argue/break up n the very NEXT DAY he goes to win her back w flowers. like wdym steve cant stand people being mad at him for even like a second that’s such a charming trait to have
while i don’t want to be one of those delusional fans that thinks the writers of stranger things changed things based on audience reactions i can’t help but notice this pattern even from s1. after s1 “justice for barb” was such an echoed statement by fans i can’t help but feel like the whole teen plot of jonathan and nancys revenge was in service of that (to its detriment because it’s not a plot that needed to happen at that time n took jonathan away from the plot he should’ve been involved in which is wills) . in s2 eleven’s independent episode was so criticised they never decide to explore the other number kids again. leaving the love triangle as a “no one wins” because of years of some of the fans being tired of it and attribute any romantic element as silly (despite romance and love triangles being a well established way to explore characters) . eddie being mentioned constantly after his death because of his popularity (no offence to eddie fans but) idk i don’t really have a point but sometimes being so acutely aware of fan’s reaction leaves its marks on the writing idk
this "nancy hurt steve so she doesn't deserve him" narrative is only ever reserved for nancy. we see dustin hurt steve bc hes grieving but we all collectively understand he still cares for steve he's just acting out. we all see max push away from her friends and we understand that its bc she can't deal w the support and we root for her return to lucas/the party. its only ever nancys actions that are placed under such scrutiny when she literally goes through and does the exact same thing but is given none of the grace
i’m so in awe of all the stancys who were fans from from s1/2 like woah. how does it feel to be a visionary
