day 29 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— I love how black outlines bring another dimension in. I love the leaf shapes and the zebra stripe doodles. ——————————————— For all I was unhappy with progress yesterday, today’s is so much better. ———————————————- Ups and downs. Every time I take a minute to look at how I feel about this making-painting-exploring project, the more I see it as a metaphor for everything else. *Everything*. ——————————————— I often talk about the tidal qualities of creativity, the ebb and flow of inspiration, ideas and just simple ability to make some thing that looks good. Some times that tide is way out on the horizon and all there is to do is keep going until it comes back. It always comes back. And then it goes again. day 24 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— I got 5 canvases at the start of this 100 day project, with the idea in mind to make a series of paintings, skipping between them as the mood takes me. Until now I’ve had enough to focus my concentration on just 4, but today I began on the fifth & final painting. —————————————— First layers are so much fun. I love exploring ways to break up the expense of white blankness, to make the first marks. I love beginnings. —————————————— This first layer is made up of black drawing ink, a little walnut ink and white acrylic. day 15 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— I wonder if it’s because I began it later, but this canvas has got something quite different going on . Of course this is only the second layer which will become lost under the next shapes and colors our the next few weeks, but I’m intrigued to see if it keeps its own distinct character. ———————————— I’m learning much more than a new style of painting is this 100 day project (Which is why I love these challenges so - it’s the sideways lessons that show up along the way) ———————————— One lesson I have to relearn in every layer is that I don’t have to like how it looks. The counter lesson to that is, if I do like how it looks, to have the courage to cover it up and see what happens next. I don’t know if courage is the word - but the belief that it’s all a part of the process, it’s transient, let’s move on now and let it go. It’s all and exercise in letting go again and again.
