Rant

The education system is seriously flawed. Pass rates keep dropping each year and the students get the blame. What people don’t seem to understand is that there is a lot to learn in each subject within a small amount off time. Things keep keep dropped down from the highest level to a lower level making the workload for that level even bigger.

We get called lazy or stupid just because we can’t make the pass mark criteria. People miss out on a grade they need due to the fact that they have raised the pass mark as people in that subject were all getting the pass mark. For a grade C (at least for my school’s and surrounding areas) it is usually gained by achieving 50-60 odd percent in the overall exam. People pass this and get the C but the exam boards decide they want to raise the pass mark due to the amount of people passing. Now you’re sitting on a D with a C being 64 percent and could potentially have to rethink your life choices due to missing out on a grade u need.

Also, it turns out exam boards want an average amount of passes each year. If 100 people get an A one year, then they want roughly 100 to get an A the next year making people have to miss out the grade. They would rather keep averages than show how students are flourishing due to the hard work most of them have put in. If the biggest majority of people pass the exam, they will raise the pass mark higher.

People could be on course for a pass the whole year and sit the prelim (or mock exams whatever u call them) and pass with a decent grade and be assured by the teacher you will be passing the exam with a grade only for them to get the exam results in and see they have missed out on a pass due to the fact the pass mark had been raised by a ridiculous amount.

The education system is seriously flawed and needs fixed. They only want the best of the best. If u have good grades or average grades they don’t care. They would rather ruin your future than help u.
