[NEWS] BC Entertainment announces new girl group debut
On the morning of January 1, BC Entertainment officially confirmed that they plan to debut a new girl group in 2021. This will be BC Entertainment’s first group debut in more than half a decade, with their last group debut being WISH in 2015 with their debut single “Like Ooh-Ahh”.
Rumors had begun to swirl over the past week about a new debut under the company after a previously unknown solo singer served as the first act of the three stops of the Hallyu Triple Fantasy Asia tour. Fancams of her performances quickly spread through fan communities as fans worked to identify the performer, who was eventually found to be a likely BC Entertainment trainee.
According to BC Entertainment, the new girl group will be called Chroma and will challenge the regular standards of girl groups in the modern industry. The first step in their debut process will involve each member being revealed one by one through a solo song release to introduce their unique colors to the public. The group is also stated to plan to promote both in two unique units and as a full seven-member group.
BC Entertainment has stated the group’s first member will officially release her solo single that she performed at last night’s Triple Hallyu Fantasy concert later today and will begin music promotions right away. According to BC Entertainment, a new member or unit will be revealed each month leading up to the full group’s debut, which is slated for the fourth quarter of the year.

BC, Dimensions, and Gold Star to open new “culture complex”
BC Entertainment, Dimensions Entertainment, and Gold Star Media have made their business partnership official on several occasions in recent years, including the introduction of their Triple Fantasy concerts featuring the rosters of all three companies and, most recently, the opening of base, a multi-media platform created to encourage collaboration and cross-company innovation. The trio have now been reported to be making a physical representation of their partnership.
A building under construction in Gangnam was recently reported to be another joint project between the three companies. The building will allegedly be turned into a “culture complex” utilized by all three companies, according the reports from insiders from the three companies. The building will include exclusive merchandise, a museum that will house the history of Hallyu as shaped by the three companies, including exclusive behind the scenes videos, real stage outfits on display, and never before seen photos. The complex is also stated to include multiple theaters for performances, a gift ship, a cafe, and even an unspecified implementation of virtual reality to help fans feel closer to their idols. According to sources, the project has been kept top secret up until now.
When reached for comment, BC, Dimensions, and Gold Star declined to comment, but since, a teaser image has been uploaded on base social media accounts with only a computer-generated image of a building that shares a resemblance to the one under construction in Gangnam and the words: base Culture Complex: coming soon.

BC, Dimensions, and Gold Star announce partnership to create multi-media collaboration project base
BC Entertainment, Dimensions Entertainment, and Gold Star Media have all released press releases this morning announcing a collaborative partnership to create base, which they describe as “a multimedia idol hub”. The companies have announced base will operate as a television studio, an online video content creation studio, a music production studio, and a live event organizer.
In their statements, all three companies stated: “base will a hub for various activities by idols under all three companies in various fields.” According to the statements, base has been in the works between all three companies since they came together for their first Triple Fantasy Concert in 2017, but the official announcement has been kept under wraps until now. All three companies have been stated to have contributed investments and staff to the project.
A representative for base stated that fans can anticipate new content of their favorite idols from all three companies through them soon and also hinted this is not the only project the three companies have been working on.
Shortly after the announcement, a short teaser video was uploaded on the newly opened base YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram accounts teasing a project with keywords “collaborate”, “3″, “creativity”, “new sides”, “concept”, and “mix and match”.

[BREAKING] Goeun settles lawsuits with BC Entertainment, BC Entertainment responds
In December of 2017, Jung Goeun announced her departure from Lipstick and, not long after, the former member proceeded to file a lawsuit against her company, citing unfair contract conditions that contributed to neglect of her physical and mental health. Shortly after, BC Entertainment counter-sued for defamation and violation of their exclusive contract. Both parties have been quiet about the court-ordered mediation sessions between the company’s legal representatives and the idol’s legal representatives which all reportedly ended with no progress made.
On July 7 at 11AM KST, it was announced that the legal dispute had finally recently reached a settlement. The settlement determined former Lipstick member Goeun’s contract with the company is still valid and she is required to remain under the company for the remaining duration of her contract barring any valid violations by BC Entertainment.
A BC Entertainment legal representative released a statement that night stating, “Further details of the case cannot be discussed publicly, but Jung Goeun will remain exclusively contracted under BC Entertainment as she is legally contracted to. She will not be rejoining Lipstick as her leave was already previously agreed upon by both parties. BC Entertainment’s pending lawsuits against her have also been dropped, which were made in defense of BC Entertainment and their many artists that were hurt by her defamatory words, in an effort to reconcile with her.”
Despite this, not long after the news broke, sources allegedly close to BC Entertainment surfaced claiming that Jung Goeun had still been requested to pay a compensation penalty for violating several other terms of her contract shortly after the decision was announced with the threat of further legal action should she refuse. When asked for a statement, BC Entertainment representatives only responded by stating they will take legal action against malicious comments about their artists and the company.
Similar insiders have given mixed reports on plans for Goeun’s career from here onward, with some reporting that she will be switched to management under BC’s actor sub-label, while others claim that there do not seem to be immediate plans for Goeun to continue an active celebrity career at all for the duration of her remaining contract under BC Entertainment. BC Entertainment representatives are not answering calls at this time to verify how true those rumors are.

[+4,125, -624] well she’s married and betrayed her fans by not telling them first. she doesn’t have a chance for a career whether she wants one or not now.
[+3,031, -297] she’s pretty and talented but honestly, aren’t the lead vocals of lipstick pretty and talented too? bc has good enough vocal training that leads are as good as other companies’ main vocals and now they got a chance to shine instead of being in her shadow

[+512, -184] she used their money to get to the top and then tried to get out. she tried to complain like she didn’t know what she was signing up for and bc put her in her place.
[+322, -70] what is bc doing?
[+315, -12] so what was that situation with her meeting up with bang sunyoung?
[+47, -29] this comes out days before knight’s comebacks. is goeun trying to ruin knight too?
Admin Note:
This post comes with an admin note like the initial article about Goeun leaving the group to say that the BC Entertainment monthly schedule will be updated later (after another slightly tangentially related article goes up tomorrow) with a little more information on the internal on-goings of BC in regards to the settlement. Since this mostly affects BC idols, further details will be kept to their schedules, but what is stated in this article is public knowledge to everyone and is likely to be interpreted by many inside the industry as a definitive win by a company, using their media-based and financial power, over an idol. Please note that while Goeun remains signed under BC Entertainment canonically, she will not be actively working under them and will not be in a position to interact with any muses from now on unless stated otherwise in an official admin statement at any point.
[NEWS] BC Entertainment announces debut of new soloist
BC Entertainment has announced the debut of a new soloist under their company, who will be the first soloist outside of one of their groups in nearly a decade. Their last soloist debuted in 2010 shortly before her group disbanded and she continued to promote as a soloist until earlier this year when she chose to leave the company on amicable terms after her contract ended.
An uproar was caused earlier today when an unexpected music video teaser was dropped on BC Entertainment’s Youtube channel at midnight KST this morning. The music video for a song titled “Week” by a previously unannounced artist on BC Entertainment’s roster was released at 6AM KST.
After four hours of fans buzzing with questions, BC Entertainment finally released a statement at 10AM KST, the same time a dance version of the song was uploaded onto their official channel. “BC Entertainment is excited to announce the debut of a new soloist under our company,” it states. “She will be our first solo-focused effort in nearly a decade and has been handpicked to represent our company as a leader of the new generation of performers. She will make her debut at the end of the month with her first mini-album. Please stayed tuned for more details.”

[+993, -190] it’s not like they’re adding her to lipstick... stop talking about goeun.
[+686, -55] even their past soloist debuted in a group first. have bc ever debuted someone straight to solo like this? they must see a lot of potential in her, or they don’t want to debut a new girl group to compete with wish yet
[+400, -191] people are saying she used to be a gold star trainee... did bc poach her to get back at gold star for that goeun mess they contributed to?
[+247, -168] knight comes back tomorrow and they’re trying to take attention away with this new soloist?? bc must really hate knight
Since Lipstick’s former main vocal Jung Goeun announced her departure from the group at the beginning of December, news around the situation has been suspiciously quiet. A lack of statements from either party since the news broke left many to speculate about what’s going on behind the scenes. Various inside sources have leaked conflicting information, with some saying Goeun was kicked out by BC Entertainment after they found out about her marriage and others saying the company is trying desperately to convince her to pursue a solo music career under them due to her notoriety and the drop in their stocks since early December.
Yesterday evening at 6PM KST, BC Entertainment cleared up that Jung Goeun remains legally under contract with them and that “discussion with her regarding her future under BC Entertainment has been underway”. Shortly after, Jung Goeun confirmed she had filed for a lawsuit for termination of her contract and its termination fine due to unfair contract provisions and rights violations. BC Entertainment’s stock fell nearly 10% in the aftermath of the news. Some sources say the announcement may have been strategic by Goeun to affect the company’s finances once their stocks had begun to recover from her initial departure announcement. BC Entertainment has already lost several billion won in the past three months due to recent events involving Goeun.
This morning, Goeun was interviewed by a news channel, where she stated she felt she had no other choice but to leave Lipstick, as the company violated her rights and neglected her health. She refused to comment on whether she plans to pursue a further career in the entertainment industry, leading some to believe she’s searching for another company to sign under. Later, it was confirmed BC Entertainment has filed counter lawsuits against the former Lipstick member, citing defamation of the company and violation of her contract.

[+231, -150] a few billion won is nothing to bc. knight must make that much for them in a week.

[BREAKING] BC Entertainment announces departure of Lipstick’s main vocal Jung Goeun
At 8AM KST on December 1st, BC Entertainment released a statement reading:
“BC Entertainment and its associates are sad to announce the departure of Jung Goeun from Lipstick due to declining vocal health. We care deeply about the well-being of our artists and upon doctor recommendation, BC Entertainment and Goeun have jointly decided that she will no longer promote as a member of Lipstick. The group will continue to promote with six members.”
Several hours after BC Entertainment released their statement, at 2:45PM KST, Jung Goeun uploaded a statement to her Instagram that read:
“Hello, this is Jung Goeun. My departure from Lipstick was announced this morning earlier than I had anticipated, and I had not had time to write a statement yet, but I wanted to share my true feelings. I apologize to any fans who were worried as they waited to hear from me. I joined BC Entertainment as a trainee in 2007 before debuting in 2012, and after ten years with the company, I’ve decided that I wish to prematurely terminate my contract. BC Entertainment’s statement that I have privately dealt with health issues with my vocal cords for a few years now is true, but furthermore, I personally feel that remaining under BC Entertainment in any other capacity, as an actress or model, would have further jeopardized both my mental and physical health, which have been pushed to their limits since even before my debut. There is not much else I can say at this time, but I would like to thank the fans who have supported me and continue to support me. It breaks my heart to no longer be in a group with such amazing fans, but I do not take this decision lightly.
I’m also happy to announce my marriage, which was finalized two months ago without a ceremony.”
Inside sources say that both BC Entertainment and Jung Goeun’s statements only brush the surface of the issue and that Goeun plan to file a formal lawsuit against the company to void both her contract and the rumored 10 billion won early termination fine.

[+1,235, -470] why would they announce this now? hasn’t bc gotten enough bad press lately?
[+1,107, -421] my bets are on bc kicking her out because she got married. no way they approved that.
[+900, -508] it sounds like it wasn’t as clean of a break as bc said. can’t wait for this drama.
[+682, -488] they left her out of the group’s sub-unit even though she was the best singer. i don’t blame her for leaving.
[+472, -213] if you can’t handle being paid just to wear designer clothes and look pretty, you shouldn’t be an idol anyway
[+365, -304] so she’s not going to say who she married? i know it’s going to be an average-looking rich man fifteen years older than her, but i’d like to see her take an idol away from their precious fan girls.
[+120, - 190] she always seemed stuck up. lipstick will be better off without her.
[+23, -158] guess this means no lipstick comeback for a while
Admin Note:
Since this is a bit of a plot drop that would reach the idol gossip mill and may not be the last you hear regarding this situation, I’ve decided to establish Jung Goeun as an NPC with an established background in the style that the company CEOs have. You can find this information below.
Name: Jung Goeun
FC: Lee Yeonhee (if anyone ever wants to use her as a face claim, this would change)
Born: January 1, 1991 in Seoul, South Korea
Occupation: Former main vocal of Lipstick, actress, and model
Jung Goeun was one of the most popular and recognized members of Lipstick, as well as the oldest. Considered one of the best vocalists in the business and a great actress, nearly everyone in the country has at least heard her name. With that kind of fame comes positive and negative opinions alike, but she has generally been viewed favorably by the public over the course of her career. Her personal life has been kept largely private despite her frequent public appearances, but this only resulted in praise due to her low number of scandals. There have been a few attitude scandals to her name over the years, but they were all quickly dispelled by fellow idols coming to her defense with confirmation of her kindness and respect. Some netizens accused BC Entertainment of paying off idols to say this, but they were treated only as empty accusations.
She had solo acting and CF gigs during her career and a few well-received OST, but despite demand for more solo musical endeavors she always stated she wouldn’t pursue a solo career until she knew it wouldn’t interfere with the level of dedication she could commit to Lipstick. This earned her much admiration from fans.
Among co-workers, she was somewhat different from her public image. She was known for being quiet and her tendency to keep her personal life to herself extended to even her closest friends. She had many business acquaintances in the industry, especially those in influential places, but there were very few celebrities who could say they honestly knew her well, even within her own group, which she claimed to be so close to in public. She was admired by many juniors and this distant persona only earned her more reverence from younger idols. Many in the industry called her “Mystery Goeun” because they knew little about her other than her work.
