I would like to draw and write more genderbends as a middle finger to antis who think it has anything to do with transphobia and not the age old Rule 63 where people are simply imagining a separate universe where this one small thing is different.
I'm pro trans rights, no doubt, but saying that making a character trans is the same as Rule 63 is incredibly ignorant. In the same way mpreg would be different. (Yet many antis ignore how a pregnant transman can be triggering to transmen for the sake of saying "The genitals decided this should be a mother." If someone wanted to write a complex story about a transman coming to terms with a pregnancy, that's their right. But they need to acknowledge it would be a very different story than ordinary mpreg, and some people just want to write their mpreg in peace.) But genderbends are the same. Yes, there could be a lot of overlap if you instead wrote it with the character being trans instead of a genderbent AU, but you are again creating a completely separate story. Sometimes, people just want an alternate reality where a character was born male/female instead of female/male. I cannot emphasize any harder how it's not that deep. It's not transphobic. It is a "What if?" scenario someone wants to explore.

Consider: George with the “are ya winning son?” meme

George sends it to the kids in the middle of exam week to cheer them up a bit and it's so fucking stupid that it actually works
Adrian and Sydney date concept of driving around trying a bunch of fancy coffee shops in LA. Like a pub crawl but a coffee shop crawl
This just unlocked a memory from uni where everybody was doing those pub crawl challenges with the shirts? Like Santa Crawl and Bunny Hop?
Hear me out...Adrian designs them two shirts for their very own coffee crawl. Sydney drinks a ridiculous amount of coffee, Adrian sees what desserts and pastries they have on the menu.
They both end up wearing their coffee crawl shirts as pajama tops. Sometimes Adrian catches Sydney smiling softly when she pulls it out of the drawer to put on for the night, and he gets butterflies in his stomach.
kind of hate how kishimoto never bothered to like. let hinata and neji come to an understanding. it would've been much needed depth for neji, to find some person who is in control of him who refuses that station, and while he could rightfully call hinata out for still having power over him, it would've done wonders to his character development to see that the strong can, in fact, reject their place, just as the weak can. and it would've tied in so much better to hinata's theme of refusing power if she genuinely sought reconcilliation with neji, if she was GENUINELY horrified at how her family treated his
^^^
we all remember when that boy got his world turned upside down by naruto saying “hey that thing you’re mad about? stop being mad about it and do what you want to do!” so imagine if hinata just… validated him. if (instead of, or in addition to Naruto) she was like “yeah our family sucks and they’ve been awful to me too, we should Do Something About It Together” his head would have actually exploded at the thought. that would have made WAY more sense and been a real eye-opener (haha) for Neji.
and then Hinata would have been relevant to the plot and Neji would have had a reason to start captaining the Hinata Protection Squad (other than “sorry for being a jerk because of my preconceived notions about you”) and both of them would have gotten some justice
Tbh, one thing I've noticed about those who are extremely upset about Taylor having left Tumblr (not out of questioning her advocacy for Black rights-- a very justified reason for being upset-- but literally just her presence or lack thereof on the platform) is that these are the people who have had interactions with her here. Those of us who never got that attention aren't really feeling like much has changed. I understand missing her but it comes from such a place of privilege
I didnt want to be the one to say it first but I agree based on the responses I have seen throughout the fandom to this debate
Ngl I go absolutely FERAL whenever I watch the bus scene in the finale like the music,,,,,the lighting,,,,,the cinematography,,,,,,,unparalleled
Wow, did I ghostwrite this? The scene is just so GOOD!!
