Watching marathon runners pass on the street is one of the most inspiring ways to get in shape; at least, that’s what Character A believed. They knew they were strong and they loved their body, but there was just something about seeing people pushing themselves to the limit that made them want to try a little harder too, in every aspect of life.
A three day marathon was expected to come through their town, and Character A couldn’t be more excited. They set up a chair, brought some books, their phone, and a bunch of water bottles and snacks since they knew they’d be there for a while.
It wasn’t until Character B started to come around the corner that Character A realized their mistake. They’d brought just enough disposable water bottles to make it seem like they were giving water to the runners, but that wasn’t the case. By the time they realized this, it was too late; Character B was already gone, water bottle in hand, and Character A regretting how they froze up and didn’t tell them off.
Thankfully, Character A didn’t run into anymore thieves since they moved the bottles, but the next day, Character B came around the corner again. And looked for a water bottle. Again. They even went so far as to berate Character A about their lack of water bottles at the station.
That was the final straw.
