top-tier style of song is ones where they are utter love letters to humanity and those around you. YES love is an old fashioned word that dares us to care about the people on the edge of the night. YES when you’re dead and gone believe me your memory will carry on. YES it’s good to have you with us even if it’s just for the day. YES the world is burning to the ground but we are going to see how far we’ve come. OF COURSE you are the dancing queen, young and free. only 17.
Joined the trigun cult fandom, anyway, here’s some angst.

EXITLUDE; or, it’s good to have you with us, even if it’s just for the week
I turned twenty to Wonderful Wonderful.
(There was so much more I wanted to talk about this week: the pre-Hot Fuss tracks, the three songs commonly referred to as the Murder Trilogy, the Christmas singles, the Killers’ fanbase as a whole. I feel like this eclectic collection of posts barely scratched the surface. But, y’know, I guess no matter how much I wrote, I’d still feel that way.)
I turned twenty to Wonderful Wonderful. Literally. The exact minute of my birth was spent listening to the titular track. (This wouldn’t be much to talk about except that I was born in the early hours of the morning—I’m rarely awake then.) I’d just gotten home from a party. The world was in that 2-5 AM window where anything can happen; it was dark and quiet and magical. I was happy.
Looking back at these posts, I use a lot of extremes to describe the Killers’ discography; every song my favorite, every album grandiose, every concept bold and daring. There’s nothing small about the Killers. To shrink them down stifles their very source of light; if shrunken, they’d simply cease to be. The Killers put words and music to your biggest and strongest emotions so you don’t have to do it yourself. How very thoughtful of them.
I will give you a home / you were never alone.
It was an odd choice for a birthday song, but in that moment it made perfect sense. The world was glowing with potential in the way that it only can when it’s early morning and you’ve just turned twenty and you are so, so loved. Wonderful wonderful, indeed.
Thank you so much for letting me take you all through this week. It’s truly been a pleasure.
