How EXO would ask you to be their valentine...
You wake up with a jolt to the sound of your alarm clock ringing in your room. Groggily, you rub your tired eyes with the heels of your palms and pull yourself from the comfort of your bed. The sunlight had managed to slip in between the cracks of the curtains, illuminating your white room with a tinge of orange.
You push them apart, the corners of your mouth turning up at just how lovely the day looked. The smile on your face soon widened when you noticed his car parked outside.
Warmth rose in your chest, you could feel your cheeks puffing as your smile increased at the thought of him being in your arms once again. You twirl in joy and run to the bathroom to freshen up.
When you came out, you were invited with the faint smell of cooking lingering in your room. You close your eyes, trying to figure out the perfect way to appear in front of him. But all your thoughts were brought to a halt when you felt two warm arms wrap themselves around your waist.
You kept your eyes closed, letting him embrace your like never before. He pressed a sweet kiss on the side of your jaw, and within a second, his touch was gone. Your eyes shot open, you hadn’t once seen his face yet. Then, you felt an icy sensation tingle around your neck, you cautiously look down to see a necklace being placed around it.
“Will you be my valentine, Y/N?” He asks in a whisper. You spin and look into his eyes after what felt like an eternity, your heart swelling at his very presence. “Yes.”
When Chanyeol had asked you out on a date, you didn’t think that he was serious when he suggested to go skydiving. But now, you had learnt to take this human bunny a little more seriously. He arrived at your door at exactly nine in the morning, and visibly pouted seeing that you weren’t even ready.
Now, seated beside him in his car, your heart beat started drumming a little quicker. His hair feathered his forehead perfectly, mouth moving at an unimaginable pace as he excitedly told you about how high the jump is, and what the view would be like when you did. Though all this did nothing but add to the anticipation that had been stirring in your mind.
Perhaps you had been lost in your worried thoughts, you hadn’t even noticed when he parked his car. You look around, eyebrows furrowing together as you tried to make out where you were. Leaves were an orange shade, complimenting the serene violet sky.
Warm fingers intwined with yours, your previous worries now replaced with a sort of curiosity. He pulled your hand towards a path in a garden nearby. Your could see a table in the distance, rose petals guiding your way towards it. A smile graced your lips.
“Y/N, will you be my valentine?”
You pressed a kiss against his cheek, and taking this as a yes, he drags out a chair for you to sit on.
“I’m afraid of heights by the way, I’d never actually go sky diving!” He speaks causing you both to burst into a fit of laughter.
“Never gonna let you go, giving you my heart and soul.”
His velvety voice seeped into your dreamy sleep and caused your eyes to flutter open. A smile tugged your lips, he was home. You brushed away the heavy duvets and found yourself looking for the comfort of his voice again.
“I’ll be right here with you for life.”
You see his figure in the kitchen, your flower printed apron tied amusingly around his waist. A small giggle escaped your mouth, to which he immediately turned around and gave you his heart shaped smile. It melted your heart like it always did, his happiness was your weakness, and he told you that you were his weakness.
“Baby all I wanna do, is spend my every second with you.”
He makes his way towards you, and guides your arms around his neck as his strong arms wrap delicately around your waist, holding you firmly as though you would slip away if not kept still. He brings you into a soft dance, the humm of his voice being your song.
“So look in my eyes, I’ll be by your side.”
You feel his fingers tug your chin upwards, your bright eyes meeting his. You examine his features, his doe eyes, the curve of his cheekbones, the dip of his cupid’s bow, his dangerous heart shaped lips.
“Yeah look in my eyes, I’ll be by your side.”
He twirls you around before slowly leaning his forehead against yours. You can feel the warmth of his body radiating from him, so you tighten your grip around him, hoping that he can feel your heartbeat similarly.
“Be my valentine?” He murmurs into your cheek.
“For life.” You sing, claiming him as yours.
Your mind had been wavering from the moment that he called you. You stared at your screen, anticipation building in your nerves. You quickly dismissed your worries and answered your vibrating phone. “Hello?” His voice melted into your ears, you smiled as an instant reflex, hope building in your system.
“Hey.” This was it, he’d ask you now.
“I’ll be home a little late honey. Don’t wait for me, okay? I don’t want you staying up unnecessarily.”
The line fell silent before you could answer. Unnecessarily? Really? You knew he was busy, his job meant that he would always be. But today is Valentine’s Day. Did he really forget?
Night had fallen, you sat resting your head on the window with your favourite book in your hand. Your eyes skimmed over the words, but your mind was still focused on him. You turn the page to find a small note there.
“If you’re reading this before nine pm, turn on the T.V and watch my live interview? Please jagiya?”
Unbeknownst to yourself, the corners of your mouth had turned up. You found yourself curled on the couch watching his interview. Soon, your heartbeat felt calm seeing his smiling face onscreen.
“Y/N, I know you’ve watching. I’m sorry I can’t be with you today, but I want you to know that I love you. Please, be my valentine?”
You giggle, tears slipping your eyes. He wanted to be with you just as much as your wishes he was here. “Yes.”
You were sat on your couch, furiously wiping away tear stains. You tried distracting yourself by watching tv, but that did little help. The ring of your doorbell punctuated the air, interrupting your quiet sobs.
You sniffled and shuffled towards the door, making sure to plaster on a fake smile before opening it. He stood there, hands behind his back, a small smile etched onto his soft lips.
But it soon disappeared seeing the state you were in. He sighed, and stepped inside. “Y/N...” He begins, but you cut him off.
“I know, I know. You’re gonna say how I should just forget about him. But... but it’s not that easy Xiumin!” Your voice came out stronger than you expected, booming eradically in your little living room. He brings a hand to your forehead and then under your chin.
“Actually, I was gonna say that you look ill.” Slowly he pulls his hand back and presses your shoulder down, ushering you to sit on your couch. “And it seems that you are, you have a fever.”
You lean back, tipping your head into the cushion behind. A tear slips out again, that similar tight feeling in your throat making your breathing more ragged.
“He didn’t deserve you.” You lift your head, only to see his hung low. “He didn’t know how valuable you are.” Your eyebrows begin to furrow, you hold back your sob. “But I do.” He presents bouquet of flowers, traditional red roses.
“Y/N, let me tell you how much you mean, let me show you how important you are. Please, let me be your valentine?”
He knew you too well, knew how this wasn’t easy for you, knew that you needed someone to help. Maybe you hadn’t known how he felt, until now. You should give love a try, one more time.
“Thank you.” You whisper, leaning in to bring him into a warm hug.
