SPOILER:
I just saw Frozen 2, and I think there is a moment in the film that is not getting enough attention. In this scene Anna is running from the giants and is saved by Kristoff and Sven. Then this dialogue follows :
Kristoff: I’m here, what do you need?
Anna: To get to the bridge
Kristoff: You’ve got it
I want to take a second and just appreciate Kristoff. Homeboy has been completely out of the loop about what Elsa and Anna have been up to, but he sure knows the consequence of that bridge breaking. Yet, in Anna’s moment of distress, he doesn’t question her, he doesn’t patronize her, he simply does what she asks trusting completely in her plan and knowing full well that the giants are going to destroy the only thing preventing the destruction of Arendelle.
Nor, might I add, does he simply grab Anna and then take things into his own hands. He asks Anna what SHE needs. I think sometimes when we see people in need its our natural instinct to try to take over and fix something, but Kristoff didn’t try to take control of the situation, he only tried to help.
He did this because he TRUSTS Anna, which is a key part of loving someone. I’ve never been head over heels about Kristoff, I thought he was a chill character, but nothing more. But honestly this 3 second exchange between he and Anna has probably made him my favorite Disney man. He’s raising the bar for sure.
