Peri-Peri’s MCU Caloocan Branch Features Park & Order

A lot of people are still quite hesitant to go outside their homes. Some of my friends have not entered a restaurant ever since the pandemic started last year. Food deliveries have greatly improved, but there is still a difference between eating a hot, freshly prepared meal at the restaurant and having it reheated in the microwave at home. Thankfully, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken is giving its customers another great option as they recently launched their Park and Order feature.

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken & Sauce Bar is the designated home of the charcoal-grilled chicken. Owned and managed by the Shakey’s group, Peri-Peri just opened their 45th branch at the Manila Central University (MCU) along EDSA in Caloocan last September 8, 2021. As one of the fastest growing restaurants in the country, this unique barbecue chicken is truly catching the taste buds of the Filipinos with its distinct aromas and flavorful spices.

With the new store comes a new way or ordering your favorite chicken, ribs, and pasta dishes from Peri-Peri. Aside from the usual dine-in and take-out options, the MCU Caloocan branch comes with a very convenient Park and Order feature. Guests can just drive and park their cars at the spacious Park and Dine areas then proceed to place their orders at the terminal, similar to a drive-thru.

This means that you can order your favorite items and have them delivered straight to your car, hot and fresh. You can then eat right inside your car, just like you were dining inside the restaurant. It’s safe, it’s convenient, and it’s a great option for those who are not yet fully ready for dine-in.

The new MCU Caloocan branch also sports a more colorful and upbeat look. Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken celebrates the vibrant local art community through sustainable partnerships with homegrown talents, showcasing their work and creations in their restaurants. This is the first wall art installation they created which you can find here beside the Park and Dine area. Selfies for yourself and even for your cars are welcome.

They also have an exclusive pick-up window for delivery riders and for carry-out orders. The MCU Caloocan branch was really built with the pandemic in mind so everything has been designed for safety and convenience.

For those who are willing to dine-in, the 183 square meter branch is also a great attraction. It comes with the distinct and festive Portuguese ambiance and theme that you can find in all other Peri-Peri branches.

For now, only fully vaccinated guests are allowed to dine in based on the most recent IATF guidelines. The maximum seating capacity has also been increased while still maintaining the proper social distancing measures.

As for me, I decided to give the Park and Dine feature a try so I’m staying right inside my car. The staff will even disinfect your hands before they serve your orders.

My order was delivered straight to the car after just 15 minutes. We ordered the Signature Peri Grupo (P1,099) which is what we usually have delivered to the house.

This family set is good for up to four persons and comes with 1 Whole Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken (choice of Classic or Picante), 1 Carbonara To Share, 1 Sebastian Salad, 4 Regular Sides, 4 Java Rice, and a 1.5L Coke. Best of all, you can get all of these for only P1,099 with a huge savings of P581 from its regular price.

I wasn’t planning on eating everything in the car, but I was already quite hungry so I couldn’t wait to start with the carbonara. This one is for sharing, so don’t worry, I left some for my husband.

The Peri Grupo also comes with an order of Sebastian Salad with its crunchy greens topped with egg, tomatoes, kani, and dressing.

The main attraction of the Peri Grupo set is their signature Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken. This whole classic chicken is marinated overnight in a special concoction of peri-peri chili, herbs, and spices then charcoal grilled.

It also includes four servings of java rice plus a medley of sauces to choose from. This set is really perfect for sharing with the entire family.

The term “peri-peri” actually comes from an African bird’s eye chili called piri-piri which releases a fiery spice and helps create a wealth of flavors in every dish. Peri-Peri chicken traces its roots from Portuguese origins but this has been tweaked a little bit to satisfy the Filipino palate. It’s not as spicy and fiery as its original version, but you can customize your experience with a variety of their signature sauces.

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken comes with eight signature sauces from mildly sweet and tangy, to wildly smokey, and to flaming spicy. You can mix and match each of the sauces to create your own flavor adventure.

The Peri Grupo also comes with 4 regular side dishes. We chose coleslaw, mashed potato, corn and carrots, plus baked mac and cheese. This promotion was only available until September 30, 2021 but I do hope they offer it again soon.

We added a few more items to complete our Park and Dine order. The Salted Egg Crispy Chicken Skin (P275-to share) is a great appetizer to munch on in the car or at home. We also ordered the Peri BBQ Back Ribs (P692-half) with its smoky and flavorful pork ribs doused in their signature barbecue sauce.

I even got a FREE SuperCard Classic with my Signature Peri Grupo! This card entitles me to big discounts and free items at all Peri-Peri and Shakey’s branches for one whole year. We had always wanted to try out this Portuguese barbecue chicken restaurant before but this is just the first time we were able to do so. The weekend was coming up so we were delighted to find all their specialties, plus a few of their new signature items, all in one big Peri-Peri delivery. With over 40 branches around Mega Manila and counting, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken & Sauce Bar is one of the fastest growing restaurants in the country today.
