Yeah, I watched LoK gor the first time this year and it constantly felt like "here's a lesson about how much unfair pressure is put on the Avatar, and how miserable it makes Korra, one person trying to fix the world's problems... Anyway, it's a GOOD thing to suffer! :D" It just felt kinda inconsistent imo. The last season in particular was... woof. With its "moral" lessons about trauma :/ I liked the characters a lot, it just felt like no one was able to fulfill their potential/character arc properly.
god that’s such a bizarre and terrible message lmfao. im almost looking forward to watching more of it so i can get mad about it--
that makes sense! i’m only like 5 episodes in & i’ve already seen the show prioritize clunky moral lessons over consistent & deep characterization, so i’m not surprised to hear that they don’t do enough with the arcs. sounds disappointing, though -_-
