Link matters... These lovely necklaces both explore ways to integrate shape, colour and form. Made independently by 2 jewellery explorers, it’s interesting to note strong similarities here, yet still these necklaces carry a different make-up. Viktoria comes to Flux for self directed Tuesday extra time... her necklace began with beach finds- 2 pieces of glass, human-made from sand, then cracked, shaped and polished over time by the sea’s wild buffering, rhythmic pattern. Note how this organic processing brings new life to the glass! Now having living form, these sea glass beings remain ever connected; the interrelated silver links add more to the story of how her green beauties took form. The second necklace starts with other influence... Karla loves her labradorite ring, and she sought to make matching piece of jewellery; our 10week chains and links course at Flux was a timely invitation to give structure to her designs. In combining stone with silver, oval with rectangular form, solid stone with hollow box, Karla’s pendant presents geometric interplay... additionally we might see an otherworldly window, a dream, a door, a landscape... draping pleasingly from a repetition of oval links that make her chain.
