As I said in one of my last posts, I've been rewatching some of the older sanders sides episodes.

I keep coming across things I hadn't ever really thought much about that are standing out to me now that I've seen the more recent ones a few times through.

In Moving On Part 1 there's this scene I never really gave much thought to because it just confused me (and it goes by pretty quick):

Roman: And what better way to bring people together than by relating to one another's nostalgic memories?

Roman [to Virgil]: Say, that's a good idea for bringing together you and–

Virgil: Don't.

Roman, awkwardly: asdfghjkl it's called a JOKE... dude... have you ever heard if it? I mean–

And later...

Roman [to Virgil]: Say, what about a scrapbook, filled with all the good times with–

Virgil, forcefully: No.

Roman, even more awkwardly: LOOK UP THE WORD "JOKE"... IN THE DICTIONARY... JACK SMELLINGTON

Only now have I realized it's pretty obvious he's teasing Virgil about his past relationship with Deceit (or another side).

I'm sure I'm not revealing anything new here, I'm sure lot of people out there realized this long ago but for me this is really exciting; the fact that we're getting hints to Virgil and Deceit's history this early on before his reveal. And now this scene finally makes sense.

In moving on part 1 Patton says in response to the others wanting to go to his room, “But seriously, my room is kind of a mess”, and going off the idea that the sides’ rooms reflect the sides themselves, this shows that when he said that, Patton was also referring to himself, and further highlighting the underlying issue of the video. in this essay i will-

Moving On (Nostalgia) Reaction/Recap

-You know the drill joke finally happened

-Virgil is actually corralling them for once this is new

-Don’t really understand the whole Guys and Dolls thing soooo that confused me

-Logan is frustrated about the nostalgic induced lack of productivity

-Logicality moment is just an excuse for Logan to call our Patton’s cat onesie

-Roman having creepy “joking” ideas

-Virgil having to redirect the group so many times

-Patton wants more Harry Potter (Don’t we all)

-The positivity of Nostalgia and Roman is defensive of his “jokes”

-Virgil and Patton being cautious of nostalgia

-Virgil and Patton are doubtful of things getting better (I WANNA GIVE THEM HUGS) and Logan is insightful

-Peer Pressure (Self Pressure?) on visiting Patton’s room

-ngl Patton’s room makes me feel better about my rooms messiness

-Patton is of no help as he is in full Nostalgia mode (do their rooms overly affect them and the shared mindspace is better for them?)

-Logan realizes that Nostalgia overloads Anxiety

-LOGAN GETS WORRIED ABOUT VIRGIL

-THOMAS IS WORRIED ABOUT VIRGIL

-WHEN VIRGIL SAYS NO ITS SO STRAINED AND STUTTERED AND HE HAS THE HEAVY ECHO FROM HIS ROOM AND JUST SOMEONE LET VIRGIL LEAVE HE IS BEING VERY AFFECTED

-Logan tried to help, Roman wanted to reminisce on Broadway, Patton on old Photos

-LOGAN DUCKED OUT

-HE JUST LEAVES

-AND ROMAN JUST TALKS ABOUT LOST SEASON 5

tl;dr: I’m very emotional about this video and a lot of stuff happened in that 16 minutes
