Musicians shouldn't have to pay public liability Insurance, sign this petition in attempt to stop it!
Gosford City Council's new public liability insurance policy has had a fatal and disheartening affect on many aspiring musicians young and old shutting out performers who can't afford an additional insurance on top of the price of a busking permit. Public Liability insurance, is an insurance not for the musician but for the public in-case of an injury surrounding the busker. Gosford Council provid...es an un-charitable amount of 30 people with 'free' public liability insurance until their permit runs out. Busking provides performers with a tool to improve their confidence, promote themselves and play for an audience. With this policy many buskers will be forced off the streets because of costs of $160+ per three months for insurance that many people cannot afford. Busking is an amazing thing for performers who can't always land a gig, want to gain confidence and get some experience and practice playing in front of a live audience.
