Is it strange that seeing people on the internet and celebs that I follow being happy makes me happy? cause i see a lot about "parasocial relationships" and how "I can't be happy with the celebs without being their friend or knowing them irl" I have no idea how to ask people to tag or blog this cause im trying to have fun on the internet and otherwise very good blogs are posting this so its hard to avoid. Any advice or tips or anything?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking.
Are you asking me whether I think it's OK that you're happy that celebrities and strangers are happy? Because my answer to that is a resounding yes. There are many sources of joy in this world and it's important to embrace them.
Although I do think boundaries can help a little bit. Most of the time we're not happy because they're happy, we're happy because we're telling stories where they're happy. Understanding that there's a gap between us and them and their experiences and ours is incredibly important to avoid being sucked into some of the weirder aspects of fandom.
But if you're asking me what to do about the fact that even blogs you like will post incredibly annoying material that involves telling other people what to do, even though nobody asked. Then sorry I don't. Postblock is brilliant. Otherwise remember that if you're ignoring what they say you're taking their advice not to let parasocial relationships dictate your life.
