I kind of hate how "good worldbuilding" is synonymous with realistic. Like wow, I'm so glad that pair of shoes is accurately priced for a medieval economy.
History is already interesting. Why make a blander version of it and call it fantasy? I'm here for the wonderful and mysterious, the horrifying and sublime.
That's why I love Eyam so much. Give me a palace built on the edge of a fiery ravine. Give me ground so soaked with blood that the dead rise unless sealed beneath magic stones. Give me children singing dark prophecy as nursery rhymes and a king crowned with the death mask of a slaughtered god.
These are VIBES.

Marius Valerius is a trained scholar warrior with the sharpest of senses, able to recognize any threat or route of attack (except for friendship). The Golden Cobra torments him for years, forcing social gatherings and an unwanted intimacy upon him until Marius realizes he actually likes that intimacy at which point he takes new vows.
