Eyebrow transplants are more common than most may think. Many people, women especially, desire the naturally curved eyebrows, that are neither too thin, nor too thick. However, this can be an unattainable goal for women of color.
Hair comes in a variety of types, from different colors to different textures. Women of color tend to have thicker and curlier hair follicles. A basic FUE hair transplant is less likely able to transplant wavier hair follicles because the technology is best suited for straight hair and could cut through the curlier hair grafts during harvesting. This limits the number of patients who can undergo basic FUE treatment.
As well, basic FUE transplants only harvest hair grafts from the donor area (in the back of the head, below the ears) since this portion will never suffer hair loss. Head hair may not always be suitable for eyebrows since they have different textures and growth.
Recently, new FUE technology, known as Dr.UGraft, was released to the public. It has the ability to conduct body hair transplants, meaning it can harvest hair from any part of the body. With Dr.UGraft, the patient in the article was able to receive pubic hair to eyebrow hair transplant. The patient is a Hispanic woman from Los Angeles, whose natural eyebrows would be thicker and more robust. Her pubic hair proved to be a better alternative for her eyebrows than her head hair. Now her eyebrows look much more natural.
