BlueFly.com Launches Eyefly.com | Events
I have to admit, it is getting competitive out there. First, there was a company called Warby Parker, followed by Spex Club. Now, Eyefly has joined the game. While I'm not envious of the retailers competing against each other, I'm definitely excited that more company means more choices! It turns out that Melissa Payner, Eyefly's CEO agrees 100% with that notion.
I headed over to the Eyefly.com Launch event to see what the hype is all about. The first thing I focused on was the product. It looks like Eyefly is looking to provide an entry point for all eyeglass consumers, because they are competing on price and assortment. I saw plenty of on-trend frames, nothing too crazy though. Eyefly isn't looking to conquer one segment of frame design, they want to appeal to everyone with fashionable tastes. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how their design approach matures as the company grows.
Now, onto the important stuff. We were treated with some fine vodka cocktails. I have no clue what mine was called or what the ingredients were, but it was delicious. Kanon Organic Vodka provided the refreshments, and I think I found a new brand to add to my liquor cabinet! People's Revolution was in full effect with appearances of partners Kelly Cutrone and Emily Bungert. I would be lying if I said I wasn't too shy and intimidated to meet Kelly Cutrone. I managed to get a picture of her but failed to muster up the strength to say hello. #SocialNetworkingFail. I did have time to speak with Emily and she was incredibly helpful and sweet! Nicky Hilton also made a guest appearance towards the end of the night.
It was a good night for a free beverage and a product launch. I was able to meet a couple people from various fashion sites that I look forward to working with, and it is always good to see the beginnings of new fashionable merchandise!
